Confirming what I’ve read in searches…

I can use an old P229/9 slide and barrel on a P228 frame as long as I have the original locking insert and not a newer P229-1 insert.

I’m trying to build a Carbon frame railless tailless short serrations slide combo.

ETA: Asking specifically about the 228 frame because matrix doesn’t offer a railless 229 frame at this time.

The 228 and early 229's use the same barrel, insert and mags.

The 229-1 has it's own barrel, insert and mags.
The insert is the same as the .40

They do. It's the P228 frame, which is the same as the early P229(9) frame. There are 2 options. Make sure you choose the "Classic 9mm" and not the "E2" option.
