Cimarron brought these in for a while (or maybe they still are) and offered them in both a high polish blue and bright nickel. I wanted a retro style 1911 and didn't want to pay the Colt retro price, so I was kind of keeping an eye out for one of these guys. Late night, gun broker, crappy pictures, you know how it goes... Thought I was bidding on a high polish blue.

Got to my FFL and found this.

Couldn't really return it, it was "as described", I just should have read all the way to the bottom instead of relying on the photos that really made it look like a blued gun.

Decided to embrace it and found the Adams engraved grips on eBay. Just need to get a tooled El Paso holster for it and look around for a barbecue!

Last year I did our backup gun qual with it, just so I could wear it to department meetings on days I wasn't working a scheduled shift.

It really grew on me!

BBQ gun? Sunny day and you’ll cause retinal damage to someone!

Seriously though, it looks pretty good with the grips. Not my style, but I don’t hate it. How’s it shoot?

Really, just like any of the Philippine 1911s I have tried... Works great, zero issues. In terms of reliability it's about perfect.

Now, about those next to invisible sights... I've got nothing good to say.

Unless you've got twenty minutes or so to work on picking up the extra shiny ultra thin low profile front sight in the two and a half frog hair thick rear notch (as a bonus, also extra shiny!) this is really kind of a point shooting gun.

My only 1911 is an anniversary edition. So it’s got the tiny sights. I feel you. It doesn’t make for easy rapid fire, but it’s dead nuts slow fire! But if you’re get glare, good luck!

I’m digging the engraving on the grips much more than I do on the pistol. I like the combination.

I’m with everyone else!
I’d change the sights, a nice leather holster and find a bib so my shirt doesn’t get BBQ sauce all over it!
Nice looking pistol!

From what I could find, Cimarron 1911s are made in the Philippines and the price I find them for on Gunbroker starts at over $700. Is that the going rate for these pistols now? I would have thought $500 as a starting point.

That’s how I ended up with one of my DW Valor’s. Thought it was their black Duty Finish or whatever they call it. Went to the store to find I had bought one of their actual blued models. Not what I wanted but it does look good. Same thing though, the description clearly said blued. Oops.
