I have been casually looking for a nice P228 shooter, I have owned several over the years but let them escape. I was perusing Armslist and came accross a great folder steel slide with several well thought out modifications (Legend sights and controls) several mags and even a nice Kramer Horse hide IWB holster, an SRT package installed. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend but due the condition and after talking to the fellow it seemed it was coming from a loving home.....I jumped on it.

Then yesterday I was in a LGS that I had not visited since the C19 BS started. Low and behold a P210 (recent build) for the same price as Palmetto State or Buds.

Well damn.....I thought about it over night and decided I would be kicking myself if I did not grab it. So I did right after picking up the P228.

The fellow selling the P228 was a pleasure to deal with and (lucky for me) was selling off some safe queens.

Some notes,

The P228 is LNIB, the seller said it he bought it unfired and put around 100 round though it. Loving the HD sights.

The P210 feels a bit thick but the trigger is amazing. The Gunsmith at my LGS mentioned some of the P210 need 100-150 rounds to break in.

Questions

P228
Does the Grayguns adjustable work with the SRT kit? If not I will just go with a Sig short trigger as I have done in the past.

It has been a long time since I have used Robert's (Sig Armorer) what is the consensus on his carry action package?

P210
I see Kirkpatrick and El Paso saddlery do P210 holsters but I am looking for an engraved BBQ set up and while I like Kirkpatrick's designs they don't do engraving and El Paso does engraving but their designs (at least for the P210) do nothing for me.

who else makes P210 holsters?

Thinner grips, does anyone make them?

Front sights, looking for either FO or FO and tritium?

Can you dry fire the P210 without a snapcap?

Sure. It's not a .22LR. But, if you're concerned, cut out a piece of rubber earplug and insert it between the hammer and the firing pin's butt.

The GGI trigger works with the factory SRT.

With drop in parts being what they are, sending a gun in to a Smith is becoming a thing of the past.

You might be right but the DA is fairly smooth but ~10lb and the SA is around 5-6lb

FWIW, I was told not to dry-fire a 210-6 to avoid breaking the firing pin. That's older technology, though; your pistol is a different beast.

Also FWIW, El Paso Saddlery at least used to work off of customer designs and their guy on the phone once told me that they'd work off of pencil rubbings if I wanted to reproduce a design from an old saddle.

I apologize for not being able to be more specific, but I believe at least a couple of companies are doing G10 grips for the newer 210s. That ain't much, but at least they're out there.

Modern parts available might negate gunsmithing...

Going to try the GGI trigger to see how it helps.

Thank you, found a company called Armory Craft that does G10, good looking grips

Very nice! Those the two guns are at the very top of my "whenever I have money again" list!

The P228 is about the only thing I'd want as much as a collector's piece as a shooter, but the legion controls are a nice, subtle touch.

Congrats on the double-score during a pandemic.

On the P228 question, yes, I have installed a GGI overtravel-adjustable trigger (not the newest dual adjustable version but I'd bet it works) and a Sig SRT kit in a 2007 vintage P228. I got my P228 in similar condition to yours ... a club member bought it new and put 50 rounds through it, bought some extra mags, then it sat in the safe. I found it at our monthly swap meet and bought it the following week. Great pistol!

No huge surprise but the P210 is the best pointing and most accurate pistol I have every fired.

Took it and the P228 to the range....more to see if there sights were on than anything else.

Now....for the record my eyes suck, more so now due to the way the Dr. set up my prescription which give up a bit of distance clarity for better clarity close in.

So at 7 it made one ragged hole precisely where the A was and at 10m at around a second a shot it made a 3" hole.

Trigger was so light, had to watch riding the trigger to ensure no accidental double taps.

Oh...it needs a bit of dehorning, the rear of the safety digs in a bit.

I wanted a FO front sight but I am scared to touch anything as it is so good.

But overall...
Amazing shooter....I can see me chasing As with this once I beef up my range ammo stock pile.

P228, no surprises here either. With a stock basically new trigger it shot well but 2" low, which is normal with stock sight height...for me at least.

I love my Armory Craft G10 grips for the P210. I have the Target and wanted a 'Standard' style grip- Armory Craft is AMAZING!
