Just got mine took 30 shots...This thing is going to take some getting used to. I tripped the mag release 3-4 times with my thumb, I switched it to the other side. It also seems to want to shoot low, even from a rest.. That may be me, too early to tell.. For those that have one, how is your accuracy, how do you like it and have you done anything to it? Thanks 60

It's a snappier-than-I-like bugger for me, so my follow-up speed is my biggest issue with it. Also despite Ruger's attempt at improving grip texture, it wants to slip around in my hand quite a bit as well; I think I at least need a slathering of grip tape. Or a more pronounced stipple job. Otherwise for myself unintended engagement of the mag catch wasn't a problem. As for accuracy, I consider it an up-close-and-uncomfortably-personal sort of use case for this type of gun. "Distance" shooting with it (7 or 8 yards)...yeah...kinda meh. Its relatively puny size is its downfall; gripping it gives me a cramped feel to my purchase on its grip and that's not particularly conducive for me achieving great, consistent accuracy. Point-blank OTOH... -MG

I saw a video of one, the guy was ringing steel with it pretty reliably at what looked like 7-10 yards... I have a lot more shooting to do before I change anything but there are spring kits and triggers available.. Has anyone tried them? 60

It really is a "get off me" gun. I can hit well with mine up to about 7 yards, but recoil is becoming a problem with my hand issues.

The Hogue Handal beavertail grip sleeve made a world of difference for me in recoil mitigation and controllability. I have them on all my micro pistols.

It is a jumpy little bastard, my wife doesn't really like it but understands it's utility as a get-off-me gun. She can however shoot lights out with a Ruger Security .380 which is a joy to shoot. IDPA ESP SS

Galloway Precision has a 13 lb recoil spring that helps tame the recoil. I’ve had good success with it. NRA Patron Member, Instructor and CRSO NC CCH Instructor GRNC Life Member VCDL Member

They also make a stronger mag release spring so you don't accidently eject it while shooting, I swapped sides and it's fine so far. Having trouble reloading 380, my powder measure throws light loads with Alliant and I can't get them light enough with fine powder like Tightgroup. I've been doing some shooting trying them out and this little thing shoots pretty good for what it is. For me, finger position on the trigger is everything, use just the tip and it pulls right a tad but maintains a 4" group at 7 yards...The first joint works the best.. I'm liking this gun 60

I love mine, had it maybe two years now, and only did one thing-changed the sights so the front night sight was bigger and brighter-white. It shoots well, is a bit snappy, but works. I usually drop it in my front pocket, put the 9 in an IWB. It simply disappears in a little kydex pocket holster. It shoots well, but I've never tried it at more than 15 yards and then only once, and shot it mostly at 7. I was very satisfied with the performance and generally use Hornady's ammo. I was having the thought that I'd replace it with a Seacamp, but recent threads here changed my mind-why change from a known gun that works to one that maybe doesn't? I really do like this little pistol. Bob

Get my pies outta the oven! |
I owned a LCP early on when they first came out when Ruger copied the KT P3AT which I also owned. Yes, it's a snappy little thing. That's the nature of these little guns. What really surprised me was the Kahr CW380 I picked up a few years back, that thing was THE softest shooting .380 I've ever tried. Ended up trading up to a Kahr CM9 which is also surprisingly non-snappy for a pocket 9mm and it's been my EDC (pocket carry) now for a while.
If you think the LCP is snappy, then you'll hate the (blowback) Seecamp which is FAR snappier due to that action. I owed a Seecamp .32 for a very short time and hated how that .32 pounded my hand, I can't imagine how brutal the .380 would be

Thank you Very little |
Had the KelTec P3AT for a while, simple enough, light, great to put in a pocket, quality via looks and feel were not there and Rugers LCP really was a great improvement in esthetics. Upgraded to the LCP Max, more bullets same light in the pocket easy to carry fit, no more big pistols in the waistband considering clothing here is lightweight and shorts are normal. IT's the daily for me anymore, 11 rounds and drops in the pocket like a cell phone or wallet
