WolfpackerRuger P95. Opinions?
- - - - -
""I did go over to the LGS this afternoon and I got the P95 in my hand. Good
grief, it's tempting! This is the DC (decocker) version, unlike my old P89. I don't think I have a problem with that.""
""I'm having a bit of trouble finding a parts kit as Wolfpacker mentioned, but I'll keep looking for a bit while I ponder picking up this P95.
Ridiculously tempting....""
GunBroker auction #711078649--P95 Parts Kit. Seller is Collector 1560. No connection to this seller at all. Rating on GunBroker looks good. Mods, I apologize if this mention of an auction is frowned upon. Please let me know if I should remove it. Or feel free to delete it.

Blume9mmOne of the things I hear often about the Ruger P series pistols is that Ruger no longer 'supports' them (which is B.S. by the way) and that you can't get parts for one (still B.S.) but here is my point... I never hear of one breaking.... So, the real problem is why worry about parts? .... I guess if you used one in competition where you shot a couple hundred rounds a week this might be a concern....

CD228The firearms blog just posted a video about the Ruger P series. The guy who did the video James, had some good things to say about the rugers.

The KP89 DC, the best handgun Ruger has ever made. I agree with him.

vthokyI'm more and more tempted to go over and grab that P95 this weekend....

mr kablammoI had one and it was a good gun. Trigger stacked a bit but was grit/friction free. The gun shot low and left. I tried drifting the rear sight but it would not budge. Although only half the price the pistol that I would compare it to would be the HK USP. I recommend it.

vthokyOooh, the peer pressure is strong today!
Truth is, I didn't make it back over to the LGS today. I thought about it early, started my Saturday chores, went to a friend's for pregame tailgating, and never gave it another thought.
Monday, perhaps....

Friends, philosophize with me for a moment.
Part of why I want this P95 is because I liked my P89 so much and miss it. It's sentiment/emotion, and not a great business decision. I get that. But "want" is quite a motivator, sometimes.
A second reason I'd want it is to have it as the "commuter piece," the hardware that rides the truck when I'm not carrying on the belt. Thinking worst-case... If I ever
had to use it and it ended up in lockup for a while, I'd be less bothered by that gun being locked up than, say, having my beloved P229 locked up. Is that a valid reason for buying a good cheap pistol? By that logic, we'd never carry guns that we really like, or perhaps really good guns. We'd carry the cheapest available tool to get the job done, right?
After thinking about those things for a while, Logic steps in and says something like, "why not spend just a few more dollars and get something more modern and more concealable, like a Glock 26 or an XDs?"
Maybe I'm overthinking this.

triaxleI have had the Ruger P series for a long time they carry very well in Galco or Desantis holster rigs . I walked into a gun shop a few weeks ago and looked down in the case there was a mint P95 stainless ,box ,2 mags like new 199 . I took it with me if I did let it there I would think all day about it . Also a buddy just traded me a mint P 89 for a tri axle load of stone , he bought it new was in his desk drawer for years , They shoot great.
