What does “XTM” mean in this: P226R-9-XTM-BlkGry-CA. So I know it’s a 9mm P226 in Black and Gray and CA legal….just don’t know what the XTM means.

XTM equals "extreme"
Extreme equals G10 black and gray grips, SRT, front serations, and night sights.

The Elite has the beavertail frame.
The Extreme does not.
Both have the front slide serrations.

There are several Elite variants.

Enhanced Elite = E2 grip
Elite Dark = SIG logo aluminum grips, with adjustable combat rear sight
Stainless Elite (SSE) = All stainless, with rosewood grips
Alloy Stainless Elite (ASE) = Alloy frame with a fake stainless look, with the G10 grips with the rounded SIG medallion in center

So I was watching a GB auction that says the P229 is an Elite but I notice it does not have a beavertail frame. Bad description on their part of there are exceptions ?? Also saw for the first time a "Elite Classic Carry" ...no beavertail there either.
Anyone offer some insight ?? TIA

SIG's official name is the P229 Classic Carry, with the Part Number E29-9-CC-LGCY. It has the "Elite" Legacy slide, so sellers/dealers/distributors slap that "Elite" part onto the name, making it sound more attractive. If you are in doubt, ask them to show the box's labels. The Part Number will tell you. Also, there are a lot of FrankenSIGs out there, stuff put together with parts from different guns.

"Elite" in the actual product name generally means:

1. A frame with an extended beaver tail.
2. A slide with front cocking serrations.
3. Front strap checkering vs lines only.
4. Factory short reset trigger.
5. Special grips such as G10, possibly others.

Many models that are not Elite per-se also include #2 and those models may have Elite stamped onto the slide, which is what causes or contributes to the confusion.
