I was ready to buy an X-Ten or X-Ten Comp for bear protection on hikes, but read many comments and articles about it having trouble feeding heavy/long loads like Buffalo Bore or Underwood. It sounded like it may be a magazine follower issue. Has anyone tried these loads with a newer production X-Ten to see if it has been resolved? Not much point in having the extra capacity of a semi auto vs a revolver if you really have a single shot.

I have not had a single issue with either my 5" XTen or my XComp shooting 200gr. Underwood hardcast. The issues I've heard have been with Buffalo Bore 220gr. I tend to stay away from Buffalo Bore having previous experience with their 10mm loads blowing out primers.

Great!

Any suggestions for an OWB holster with some sort of retention beyond friction? It doesn't look like most manufacturers have caught up with that model.

Try these guys.

I have one of their pancake holsters for my 5" XTen. Their Alaskan Hunter Hip Holster can be ordered with a retention strap or full flap. I have one with the full flap for my 3" Ruger GP100 in a cross draw configuration. The flap is removable. This is more of a field carry holster than a concealable holster.

It looks like Underwood 140gr Extreme Penetrator copper solids may also be an option. Here's another question: Very few kydex holster manufacturers list the XTEN or XTEN Comp, but most have P320, XFIVE, etc. Will they fit the XTEN? I'm looking specifically at the Comp-Tac CT2 or CT3

Gunfighters Inc. makes holsters for both the 5" XTen and shorter XComp.

MNSIG, the holster I use in competition for my 320 Legion won’t open up enough for my XTEN. Apparently the slide is just too wide by a very small amount.
