With AAFES having two promotions that stacked and tax free I finally got the out the door price that I was good with. I have a Q4SF and when I heard of the PDP SF I was looking forward to getting one. I’ve put about 900 rounds through my compact PDP last month and am hoping to put a few through the new PDP SF before the end of the year if a decent weekend shows up.

My PDP F model (marketed for chix, no less) has replaced my G19 for EDC. Only thing keeping me from getting a metal one is $$$.

Good choice, keep us updated on its performance which should be stellar.

A few months ago, I bought a NIB Q4 SF for a really good closeout price ($1100 OTD) and have been pleased with it. I had been wanting one for a couple of years now and finally got one before the pipeline on that model runs dry. What also prompted me to grab it was the fact it didn't have the cutout for optics (I only like optics on rifles). Then, when the PDP SF came out earlier this year, it was apparent they all have the cutout.

Walther should introduce a PDP F with a steel frame. Maybe one will be unveiled at SHOT SHOW 2026 ???

I have both the FS and Compact SF guns. They both are outstanding. I prefer the Compact Steel Frame of the two. Only things I changed were better sights and LOK Veloce grips.

The PDP are better than glocks in every way that matters to me except one. I find the extended slide release difficult to not lightly ride. I find myself nullifying slide lock about a third of the time. I need to remove them and cut them down. Then it would be my perfect striker.

I got FS because I have the PDP compact and the Q4SF. My fingers 100% fill the front strap on those and I like the feel the extra space. I look forward to see how it shoots.

What sights did you go to?

I’m also looking to get LOK grips, the checkered palm swell.

Yes, I’ve had to adjust because I want to ride mine on my PDP also. When the HK P30 came out people had the same complaint about the slide release. HK went ahead and made shorter versions. Maybe Walther will do the same in the future.

Thanks,

I haven’t used optics on pistols either. My Q4SF is also not cut for optics. Walther may do a steel frame PDP-F but until then I wonder if a LOK grip thin version would get a Q4SF closer to the feel of a PDP-F. I takes out the curve from the back strap and is straight.

Thanks,

$$$…..agree. I had sold two firearms to fund this and the best out the door was still $$$ for me. So, although I had the funds I decided to not purchase it and had gotten over getting one.

I just fell into the right promotion timing with the store and I was able to stomach the price. Still more than my Q4SF but not by much. Had to get the pistol that came with 10 round mags though.

Thanks,

I have been putting on the XS night sights that have the orange or yellow ring around the tritium front vial. They are around 60-70 bucks and since they are Glock compatible you can find them anywhere including amazon.

Yes my HK P30’s suffers from the long slide release and I swapped them all out for the shorter factory version. That is why my HK P30’s are my actual no kidding stuff hits the fan gun. Mine are LEM and with the shorter slide release they are nearly perfection. Walther needs to do this because I would prefer not to dremel the slide release. Until I do though I can’t get to 100% of not riding it. It’s a bit frustrating in all honesty.

I thought about posting this on its own, but this thread seems good enough. Walther has a promotion from Nov 1 - Dec 31 that if you buy a PDP, you can send away for a free C&H Enclosed Optic.

I absolutely love the PDPs in general, they are super reliable in stock form. I have just over 22,000 Rds on one of my PDPs with no parts or spring changes at all. I have 13,100 rds on another one with no parts or spring changes. The other ones are under 5000 rds. I shoot USPSA Limited Optics and Carry Optics with these pistols! just beat someone at a match that was at the world shoot and won a medal!!!

well its eaten lots of reloads LOL! the frame of the pistol is perfectly fine the magwell that you see beat up comes with the gun and is aluminum not steel, the mags are metal so they beat the magwell up bad, I've cleaned it up once and its about time to clean it up again!!!

Great collection and good to see some high mileage ones doing well. How long do you think the recoil springs will last? Wilson Combat says their 1911 flat springs can do o/a 40,000 cycles.

Thanks,

Big PDP fan. I have three PDP SF Match 5"s and have really enjoyed them. They are my primary USPSA guns and I've got about 60k rounds between the two (since June of 2024). The third one is still waiting for a couple things before it enters the rotation.

My only complaint with the steel frames are some extraction issues that can be remedied a couple ways.

thank you! as far as how long the stock recoil springs will last, I'm not sure the one gun has just over 22,000 rds of live fire ammo and a ton of dry fire practice and I haven't changed anything at all. I have not seen any issues either!

The 3 steel frames are my USPSA guns also, I personally have had no issues with ejection or extraction however my guns are fully stock springs, no competition mods internally, also I have found they do not like weak powered ammo, anything that is under 126 power factor can cause issues or beat your dot glass up from the brass hitting your dot, the brass barely comes out with weak ammo, I have a chronograph and use match ammo for big matches set at 134 power factor and my training ammo is 124 grain federal or S&B. remember the PDP no matter which one you buy is a duty gun not really meant for race gun so it needs hotter ammo! I have not had any luck trying the competition springs everyone is using.
