Aim Surplus JTT Barrel (integrated comp) in the P365 – Worth It? My Range Results Login/Join

Just got my hands on the Aim Surplus “Just The Tip” (JTT) barrel for the Sig P365.

TLDR for those that would rather read about it than watch the video:

The Aim Surplus Just the Tip barrel is a drop-in 416R stainless unit with an internal compensator design, priced around $59–$69 (as of this video). I have 4 of these now (G43, G19, G34, P365) and none needed to be modified to fit.

Took it to the range recently and ran it side-by-side with a stock barrel.

Zero malfunctions and the difference in muzzle rise was noticeable, enough that I could easily keep the dot in the window instead of losing it between shots. I can do this with the factory barrel as well, but have to grip the firearm very firmly.

Follow-up shots were quicker, especially with the extended mags that give more grip surface.

For the money, this might be the best budget option for recoil mitigation on the P365 (and other) platform.

Definitely a solid value compared to more expensive threaded barrels/micro comp, comps like the Ramjet and others etc.

If I can get my hands on the integrated comp slide from the larger P365's I'd love to compare!

What’s everyone’s experience with these internal comp barrels?

I got a JTT for G19 when it was first introduced. It didn't cost much; I wasn't expecting much, and I wasn't disappointed. There are slow-motion videos on YT where you can judge how much of a difference it makes, but subjectively, I'd estimate it reduces muzzle flip *for me* by around 10-15%.

I didn't get a JTT for P365, b/c I have an X Macro Comp and also a Zaffiri Precision integrated barrel & comp, a poor-man's version of Radian's Ramjet+Afterburner. It's currently on closeout in stainless or gold colors at the link below for $97.50.

Probably won't get me into a P365, but the Glock 19 barrel in a Glock 45 would get me back into the striker game. I've been looking a cheap comp guns to try out, and I can always get a decent resale on a Glock 45 MOS. This might work...

Thanks.

I'd say your estimate is pretty accurate. I purchased a JTT for my G19 (use it in my G45 too) and G48 and although it was not an earth shattering reduction in recoil, it was noticeable. The barrels are a great value and a good spare if nothing else.

One other thing I noticed is that I usually shoot my Glocks slightly left, but with the JTT barrels installed I shot the same pistols point of aim. I have no clue why, but I'm certainly not going to complain about it.

Hater of fun since 2001!

Aim Surplus claims 20% as measured on a ransom rest, but we have no details on which firearms that was on, what ammo was used etc. With range ammo I would agree with the above, with carry ammo it feels more significant. I'd assume that's where the 20% comes from.

That's a fair point, and that's part of the enjoyment of shooting ported/comp'ed handguns. Heavier grain & higher pressure ammo makes them work better than when shooting run-of-the-mill 115gr FMJ range ammo.

Definitely agree! Hopefully they will make more barrels for other platforms as well. I'm pushing them for the G26!

Will probably get one to try on my G19.

Would also like to see some for other models, particularly my G23, although that one may be unlikely.

How bad is blast with 147 JHP like HSTs? Like, is it going to wash out my night vision worse than a standard barrel? Is my MRD going to get dirty quick?

.

Haven't tried any 147g offerings, only 115g & 124g +P.

I have shot at night however and don't find it to affect night vision much more than without it.

No affect on the red dot getting dirty. Shot an entire weekend and didn't have to wipe the glass any more than normal.

Not really much in the way of downsides for these barrels thus far, at least for me. YMMV

Bought one for my 43s and one for my 365 because cheap. I’m at least willing to concede them to range only reload - shooting use if nothing else.

After owning a comped gun, P365, I am a big believer in them now. Aim has some great deals and my JTT barrel is quite accurate. I don't know who makes them but for the price, I didn't expect very much.

I was under the impression that they made them in house?
