When I go 5 inch 1911:
OWB is the old "Askins Avenger" Bianchi holster. No longer in production but findable on EBay. Lots of makers make a similar rig. Galco makes a great one!
For IWB, its a Milt Sparks Summer Special.
Open carry is the old Bianchi Speed Scabbard.
My belt is either a Nexbelt or Hanks.
Single mag pouch for reload. Have both IWB and OWB Milt Sparks pouches.

I carry a CZ SP01.
I use a Alien Gear belly band belt that is very wide and can be moved anywhere it feels comfortable, I don't have to rely on my pants belt to limit my guns body position or support the guns weight. The gun and belt can be removed in a matter of seconds and can be used whether I'm wearing a pair of pants with belt loops or sweat pants with no belt loops.
Attached to the belt is a Alien gear IWB holster but can accommodate any holster type.

For a five-inch 1911, my ultimate OWB is the Milt Sparks Roadrunner (aka the “old style 60TK” - they’ll still craft it on-request). Next-up would be an Avenger-style holster such as the Bianchi Askins Avenger or a Sparks 55BN.

If going IWB for a 1911, I prefer Summer Special-style holsters from Sparks and Rafter-L / the “revived” Bruce Nelson Combat Leather line.

Magazine pouches range from the Sparks S4C or their IPD double-mag IWB pouch to the trusty Magholder LLC horizontal magazine carrier.

(Edited to add - sounds like YooperSigs and I have similar notions about 1911 gunleather!)

Now, a 5-inch N-Frame S&W Model 27 would be a different couple of holsters for me - happy to share if wanting to go that direction. :-)

I don't think I have ever CCW'd a 5 in full size pistol. To me a full size duty pistol is for tactical training and then I carry it in a Safariland tac holster while wearing full kit.

I do CCW +/- 4 in pistols all the time (P228 / G19/HK VP9 ) and prefer a Galco OWB Fletch leather holster with level I retention and any good stout leather belt.

Milt Sparks was my carry option for a 5” 1911. Watch Six and a very stout belt. Believe the Watch Six was replaced by something newer with a reinforced mouth.

Andrews Leather Saddle Style. With the wide belt loops, it provides a very firm platform to draw from. He will make it with whatever cant (or none) you want. The thumb break is optional at no additional cost. The pictured gun is a SIG P220 Stainless Elite 10mm, SAO, all Nitron. For a belt, I prefer a 5 stitch Wilderness Instructor's belt, 1.5" for daily wear, and 1.75" for competition (in which I can no longer compete).

Looks just like the andrews posted above.
When I was off duty and going to training or what not I carried a P226 in it. I don’t have a 5” gun besides my STI 2011 and I use a AA (double alpha) holster for gun games

My EDC is a commander sized 1911 and I use a kydex IWB holster for that.

Not quite 5" (4.48" barrel), but for many years I routinely carried a Glock 17 concealed, using either a TT Gun Leather reinforced IWB holster or a Raven Phantom with IWB wing attachments, on either a Comp-Tac leather gun belt or a nylon Wilderness 5-stitch instructor's belt.

I’ve carried a full size 1911 quite often without any problems. Milt Sparks 55bn OWB or Summer Special 2 IWB. I’ve also got holsters fairly similar to the SS2 from Ryan Grizzle and TT Gunleather that are great. A 1911 is a big gun, but it’s flat and thin which makes concealing it easier than you’d think. A solid belt keeps the weight stable. I’ve got belts from Mitch Rosen and The Beltman.

Andrews is all I have bought since I discovered him. He is a very nice gentleman to talk with, his work is flawless, and not super expensive.

The last one I ordered was only about 6 weeks, as he had put on more help. Sounds like he is slipping again. I once, several years ago, waited 13 months for a holster from Sam Andrews.

Not to take the OP's thread too far off track, but aren't nylon belts with spaceman buckles becoming something of a "tell" that you're carrying these days?

15 years ago cargo vests and fanny packs were the
"He has a gun " sirens.

Those were guidelines dispelled ,

I won't be suspecting people based on their choice of belt buckle.

Wilderness also makes that belt with an "EDC" low profile buckle. I really love their stuff.

With a 5" pistol I'd probably opt for the CSM internal stiffner. It will help with the added weight.

I think only another "gun person" might possibly notice, and I have never considered the Wilderness Instructors' buckle to be a "spaceman" buckle. I do not care is someone notices it. AZ is an open carry state, but I always carry concealed anyway, with an untucked overshirt (a very light weight sunblock shirt in the summer). I just think that it is an ideal belt for carrying, with its variable velcro adjustment and the 5 stitch rigidity. I wear it all the time, carrying or not.
