You can find some good deals here, from time to time. Found a 220 Combat TB with Crimson Trace Grips for $783.

I've looked through it before but never really found anything that I thought was a good deal.

Every time I go to the one by me it’s quite the opposite, all guns nobody wants and they want way too much for them

Found a NIB CZ-97B at the WV-Cabelas Gun Library - price was much lower than expected - it's mine now.

Was just at the one in NW Indiana earlier this week. They had it all locked up and you have to wait on the counter guy to get freed up to come open it up and let you look through it. They had an S&W 4516 for $450 that was kind of interesting, but it was a little beat up, and I didn't really have time to think it over since I'd had to pull the guy away from the counter to get in there, so I decided to pass. Other than that, there wasn't much of interest.

Sometimes their gun libraries have some value gems, but most of what they peddle is...(ahem)...optimistically priced. However I still kick myself over a lightly shot Performance Center 952-2 Longslide the Marysville Cabelas had that at the time might've been $200 to $300 over the then-going rate. Fast forward almost a decade and now the average price for that gun has more than doubled over that Cabelas' "optimistic" asking price.

Ouch. That one hurt.

No bargains at Dundee. They still have two FN Herstal HiPowers that appear to be the type that were imported in the mid teens that were selling for around $400 dollars then now at $1199 each. They were in the one cabinet now considered the Library, been there since probably February or March. They are definitely showing use. Maybe I’m off base but I can’t believe that those guns command that price and apparently nobody else believes they are worth that at present.

They also have a Remington 1903A3 that appears to be only slightly modified,,front sight removed and a scope added but at $5600 I’d have to take a pass on that one.

From a quick look at the pics posted online of that one, it appears to be a M1903A4 sniper rifle wearing a M84 scope. The missing front sight would be correct for an 'A4.

All M1903A4's were marked as A3's but it was done in such a way that you could read the model and S/N info with the scope mount installed, unlike a straight 'A3 markings which would have the data covered under the scope mount.

The M84 is missing the ID plate, and I'm not sure I'm crazy about the stock and the markings on it, but a real 'A4 pulls a lot more than an 'A3.

I’m definitely not knowledgeable any of the 1903’s, only thing I know about those is the low/high numbered receivers and the curved/straight bolts and when I saw that price I had to say whoa here!

Last time I went I could buy a new one for less than they wanted for their used guns

Most of them in the Gun Library are priced at or above fair market value. But I’ve also found some good deals. The last P239 that I purchased from Cabelas was advertised as a 357Sig. After a quick call to the store, it was revealed that it was actually a 40, but it had a brand new 357 barrel still in the box that came with it. They didn’t quite know what they had. I bought it just for the barrel.

The used gun section in the BP store here was a laugh. Guns frequently misidentified. I recall one Sig Sauer that was labeled wrong. Unfortunately the error was to a more expensive model.

You lucked out there. Never seen any bargains at Charleston Cabelas. Confused

I also found a not so common, excellent condition Mini 14 in 6.8SPC. Finding one in that caliber was the real challenge and I wasn’t going to let $100 ruin an opportunity.

The cabelas version (same company), had an online ad where I found my lnib p224. They did free shipping to my local bass pro and didn’t charge a transfer fee. Serious score for me as I had been searching for a p224 for quite a while.

yep. that's exactly how I got an FN FiveseveN for $699 and the P320 next to it sat for $1199 for quite some time.

Your experience differed from mine, I found a Sistema out of state at Cabela’s, shipping plus transfer fee. I declined.

I don't frequent Cabelas / Bass Pro gun libraries that often but on the occasions I do (while I enjoy looking) I also find the prices usually at or even above the top going rate.

Interesting you mention FN High Powers being sold there because that's the only gun I purchased from a gun library which was probably 10 years ago now. The Wheeling store had one priced at $600. When I looked it over it appeared in very nice condition and no wear but I couldn't tell for sure because it was a little dirty, like it had a couple boxes shot through it then just wiped off. When I asked if it came with the original box the sales person didn't think so but went to the back and checked. After he returned with the box, manual, and spare magazine, I went ahead and bought it and after cleaning it up found it to be as nice as I hoped.

ridewv,

That’s a beauty. I picked up a HiPower Practical NIB last year for less than the Library wants for those (in my opinion) overpriced FN Herstals.

I wanted a blued HP but couldn’t say no to that one.

Thanks shovelhead, it's nothing special I just like it because it says FN on it, I already had Brownings. And that it's in nice condition with manual, box, cleaning kit, (2) 10 round and (1) 13 round magazines.

I need to educate myself on the "Practical" version because I'm not familiar with that one.
