Picking it up from my FFL this afternoon. Posting here in anticipation because I’m excited but a little nervous about this one. I’ve never laid hands on one because I’ve never seen one in person, but it’s been nagging at me for a while, so after selling my X5 Legion I “pulled the trigger”.

I tend to not care for guns with larger grips, so I took a leap of faith with this one because I know it’s a hoss. I guess we will see.

They all shoot well at 7 yards but I’m shooting a lot at 25 yards. My P210 does well, we’ll see how this beast stacks up.

I will update this thread later if there is any interest.

I didn't care for the ergonomics of the USP either. The P320 Legion grip felt much better in my hands. Matter of fact, all Sigs felt better in my hands than the USP. But the Expert is a great shooter if you can grip it comfortably. If not, you can always give the VP9L a try.

Your P210 is possibly a more accurate pistol. I had the Expert but in .45. I like the big H&Ks. There is a vid of Jon Frost shooting his 9mm at 100 yards. Look up on the tube H&K USP Expert 100 yards. They are a nice gun by golly.

I have the P210 Target and the 9mm Expert. I think you will love the Expert, does not feel big to me. For reference I don't like the 45/10mm Glocks, just too big for me with the polymer feel.

But the expert with its longer slide is money!

Enjoy

Nolatone,

I have one. I have a X5 AO and L1.

It's more accurate than either of the x5's. It is a smaller grip than both. I prefer the grip with the jet funnel. It is lighter, and the sights stand out as well as the x5's

The trigger will be nothing like the x5's. Work past it. Out of the box I was making 50cp sized groups at 35ft. If I practiced could probably keep it at dollar-sized at 25yds. Work the trigger group a lot, practice a lot of DS/SA dry fire. The gun will treat you well.

I took it to the range today. I zeroed the sights for a 6 O'clock hold at 25 yds. It was shooting way high and right out of the box.

I didn't think it was grouping well at first, but after about 30 rounds I was able to put all 5 rounds of a 5 round group on a 6" target off hand at 25 yards (not every time, but I don't know that I've ever been able to score all 5 rounds, even with the P210). At 15 yards I could consistently get all 5 on target.

At 10 yards about a 1-1.5" group, and at 7 yards pretty much a jagged hole.

I think it's my new favorite. The grip feels fine, and the less ergonomic feel is somehow endearing to me, like "this was a gun made for burly men who don't worry about their manicure".

Paperchasin, I've checked out various of the "available" HKs in various gun shops, and they are nice pistols, but this USP is sortof a Unicorn. They are hard to come by for starters, and it feels like no other HK, or any other pistol for that matter. Even though it's polymer, it somehow feels clear it was built for armageddon.

The honeymoon for this one is hot and heavy, but I feel like it's going to be around for the long haul, and it may have the 40 and 45 joining it down the road. I ordered the Jet Funnel for it as soon as I got back from the rang.

Hell yes!

Factory 15 round mags won't work with the jet funnel. You will need the 17 round mags.

I am glad you like it. Buy some snap caps and get used to the da/a pull.

It isn't a perfect gun; there are a lot of guns out there that do some things better than the usp line.

The USP line is consistent across the board. Good guns made well that will last a lifetime.

The USP40 in my photos has well over 50k through it, and I stopped counting in 2010

My battery went dead in my Romeo zero on my 365, so I swapped back to my usp's for carrying.

It just feels like my soul has returned. I carried the usp40 for the better part of 10 or 11 years. It has been a gun in rotation ever since, but for some reason, I have gravitated back to my first pistol.

Ordered 18 round mags as well.

No, not perfect, but I don’t care!

Congrats on your new USP 9. I have one I bought new in 2005, it is my favorite of the USP series. I changed out the front sight to a fiber optic, installed a 10 lb main spring and the V9 detent plate. It is a fine shooter.

Interesting as I don’t really find the grip large. I opted for the HK USP 9 Tactical since I shoot suppressed and the threaded barrel for a Expert is just silly money for my needs since the Tactical will likely always outshoot me.
The Expert is a beautiful great shooting gun.
Enjoy. I’ll probably get one after I acquire a USP Compact in .357.

I have wanted a USP 9mm Expert for years. I still do. I don't like the sights they come with though. In the research I've done, it seems one could bottom-out the rear sight, and swap the front sight for a regular USP sight, to achieve a fixed-sight setup. I have also considered having a rear sight made. My purchase would also be accompanied by a threaded barrel, which tacks on another $600. I won't be able to justify that anytime soon. Frown Congrats on your purchase.

nolatone, My 9mm USP Expert was a fine pistol. It was literally 100% reliable, and as accurate as any pistol I've ever owned, e.g., SIG 210s, X-5, S&W PC guns, etc. The SA trigger was better than any other DA/SA pistol I've had, ~4#, crisp with minimal over travel.

The only reason I don't still have it is the USP grip and my hand just don't fit together well. Mostly, the top curve of the back strap positioned my hand lower than I was comfortable with. Just that ergonomics thing with one particular shooter. Everyone's mileage may vary on this.

Rock185, I completely get that. That’s the same reason I don’t care for double stack Glocks.

I was worried about the same thing with the USP but fortunately it’s not a concern in my case.

The HK Expert is a freakin' awesome pistol.

I have one in 9 and also in 45.
On mine I replaced the sights with Trijicon adj NS.
On all my USP's I add the Hogue slip on Handsall and I know it makes it bigger but it works for me.
Another thing I learned that the Expert Match Trigger is an improvement and even on my standard size USP's I upgraded them with this trigger that is standard on the Expert.

However, I will admit the longer and less-sexier-looking Elite (9mm) is more accurate, most likely because it is longer but the EXPERT is fantastic!
Congrats. Cool

I have one in 45. I have large palms so mine Expert has a hogue slip on. It is a great gun with a nice trigger. Breaks cleanly and with no creep. I love it.

I owned one. The grip size is too large for my small hands. It's a large gun. But it's accurate. It would be interesting to compare it with a Sig X5 or your P210 in terms of accuracy. Hope you like it.

I'd say it's comparable to the P210, better than the X5.

I like it so much I've decided to sell my Dan Wesson Pointman 9 to fund an MPX. Any takers?
