I had a picture of what I was carrying in 2018 pop up on my random pictures feed today and I chuckled because it was a picture of what I was EDC'ing on that day.

P2000sk, 13 round magazine, Spyderco, Streamlight Microstream and an SAK. Probably loaded with either HST or Gold Dots.

I chuckled because as I was putting my stuff up from today and this was what I was carrying.....

P2000sk, 12 round magazine, Spyderco, Streamlight Microstream and an SAK. Loaded with Gold Dots.

The more things change.....the more they stay the same. Big Grin

I have lots of options even far more "modern" choices but the old P2000 and P2000sk just fits my body, points naturally even eyes closed and works with my DA/SA troglodyte mind. Big Grin

It seems that everyday I read or watch a video where somebody is asking....."Is this gun still viable today??" I always think, was it made in a century greater then or equal to the 20th? Is it reliable? Can you hit with it? Then YES VIRGINIA IT"S VIABLE!! Big Grin

Just thought I'd share, even though clearly this little P2KSK isn't viable in 2024. Roll Eyes

Take care, shoot safe,
Chris

Nothing wrong with that setup at all, and I'm not even an H&K guy (but I am a fellow DA/SA troglodyte, lol)! Mine is similar, but it's a P229 (used to be a P245), a MacroStream (upgraded when I lost my Microstream), and a SpeedSafe Kershaw.

I don't EDC an SAK anymore, but I used to back in High School. I love those blue scales on yours...brings back memories of the very first one I ever bought.

But is it a DIFFERENT P2000SK and if so, why?

Noticed that your SAK seems to be a more svelte model than previous model but does have the corkscrew (it appears). Seriously, I prefer having one as it can come in handy when having to deal with knots that you don't want to cut. Nice HK BTW.

The P2000SK is a surprisingly good firearm.

While mine is chambered in the 357SIG cartridge I find this little pistol to be more accurate than a gun that small has any right to be

Mine is a very early example, I bought it probably two decades ago.

I usually carry mine with the original magazine in place, but keep my reload to a full size mag with the X-grip adapter. The X-grip gives it a very nice feeling in the han-

Nope. Same same. I’ll never wear out any of the HK’s. Hell the finish hardly shows any wear after years and years in and out of a holster. To be fair I wipe them down every time they are put up so I care for them but they just don’t show wear like some other guns.

The other knife is a cybertool the blue one is an Explorer that I replaced the scales with a “plus” set as I like having the pen. Cork screw is a must have for me and even though I normally carry something around the “champ” size this little explorer is my light weight option that still gives me an inline Phillips.

HK’s like SIGs handle the .40/.357 SIG amazingly well. My “bigger” carry is a P2000 in .40 that is going on a decade now and it’s just a dream in .40.

I have a P2000 in .40 that is excellent. Very accurate pistol.

I have a 9mm P2000SK that is also very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Both pistols are LEM.

I’m looking forward to the VP9CC (rumors say next year) and currently carry a P365XL the majority of the time, but the HKs have their role in my stable.

cslinger is going to cost me money, I really and truly should go handle a 2000sk again as I AIWB only due to back issues and the push button decocker has me interested. I previously had a p2000sk in 357 sig (I sold to a forum member here as it was a bit much for me). Yes, call me a DA/SA troglodyte but go with what works for you I say.

One can never go wrong with HK. Personally, I think they are the best mass produced guns made. Love my Sigs but REALLY love my HKs.
Out or curiosity, what is with the knives? So many gun pics with knives. I should produce my gun pics with my running shoes. If I can’t hit you, I can serpentine and out run youSmile
While on this rant, why do guns come with branded rubber bands on the grips?

It’s just my EDC. I have always held the philosophy that one should always have a way to make light, a way to make fire, a decent blade and basic tools. With those things there are very few practical situations you cannot address. My knives aren’t “stab a bitch” blades. Smile. I have never needed to fire a firearm in anger nor do I have any desire of any kind to do so. I have, however, used the rest of my normal EDC almost daily.

The rubber bands are a fairly recent thing and are just swag for the user or something for a collector to sell with their gun 60 years from now Big Grin.

I'm never willingly without a knife, but it's a tool, not a weapon. Everybody loses in a knife fight, and I have no desire to ever be a part of one. I've very rarely drawn my gun, but my knife gets used multiple times a day for trimming things, opening things, slicing things, etc. It's a must-have part of daily life.

I grew up in the country and I'm pretty sure I had a buck knife on my hip just about the time I hit double digits. A knife is a tool, and as 92fstech said, I use it about a dozen or more times a day. Somewhere along the last 59 years I heard the phrase "A knife-less man is a lifeless man." I couldn't agree more.

FWIW, I'm also still rocking my P2000sk for EDC. Some days I'll switch to my P2000 or USPC just because, but I love my P2000sk. So much in fact, that I have three of them. Two LEMs and a DA/SA all in 9 milly. Great guns and dead nuts reliable.

Save the whales. Redeem them for valuable prizes...

My knives comment was very tongue in cheek. I worked in a warehouse as a kid and had to carry a knife to open boxes. I’ve carried one ever since and use it all the time.

Likewise, everyone loses playing spur of the moment Mumbledy-Peg with P320's and series 70 1911's. Smile

I love my P2000 DA/SA. It’s great in the TT Gunleather holster but my crappy vision and bifocals make it tough to shoot accurately.
