I'm not referring to the recent articles about the .356 TSW cartridge, although that's interesting.

I'm referring to the Tactical Smith & Wesson trim applied to various Smith & Wesson 3rd-Gen alloy framed autos such as the 5906 and 4006.

I've found the 4566, which is a 4-1/4" barrel .45. Does anyone know, did they ever make a TSW model of the 4506 in 5"? And what other TSW models are out there?

The first handgun I ever shot was my father's first-gen S&W 59, and my uncle carried a 4006 TSW on patrol for many years, so every now and then I look at Smith 3rd Gen autos with lust on classified boards. I'm considering trying to track one of these down.

Edit to add: Pictures of any handsome TSW guns you own are welcome. Help me drool. Encourage me to spend money I don't have to spend.

Nope. There was never a TSW version of the full size 5" 4506. There were TSW version of these .45 ACP S&W 3rd Gen models:

4513: Compact 3.75" barrel
4553: Compact 3.75" barrel, DAO
4563: Midsize 4.25" barrel
4566: Midsize 4.25" barrel, steel frame

In addition to the .45 ACP ones above, there were TSW versions of these S&W 3rd Gen models:

9mm:
3913
3953
5903
5943
5953
5906
5946

.40:
4003
4043
4006
4046
4013
4053
4056

Or, if you a want a S&W 3rd Gen(ish) .45 ACP with a 5" barrel that's fancier than the non-TSW 4506, there's the S&W Performance Center 945.

It's like the bastard lovechild of a S&W 4506 and a 1911.

Was able to find a 4013TSW made back when they all had to have rails on them.

Someone found out how to order it without one.

Most, but not all, TSW guns had rails.

There were some runs of non-rail TSWs in certain models. Like so:
