Folks, is it safe to fire a 9mm SP2022 barrel in a .40 S&W SP2022. I'm talking swapping the barrels out, and maybe recoil springs. Also, the 9mm barrel is a LCI or Loaded Chamber Indicator unit. The Pistol in question does NOT have a loaded chamber indicator. Also, since we're talking barrel swaps, is it possible to swap a .40 S&W barrel, complete slide and recoil spring onto what was originally a 9mm SP2022? I know a bit about swapping barrels on the P226/229 pistols and how the difference in the breech face between 9mm and the .40 S&W/.357 SIG dictate what can and cannot be done there. Are these similar situations? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. "To err is human, to forgive divine. Neither of which is Marine Corps policy." | ||

From what I've read, an LCI barrel will fit in a non-LCI slide (but not the other way around). I ended up just having two slide assemblies to change caliber. Swaps may not always be perfect. Some barrel fitting may be required, which is why I went with 2nd slide assembly. You also don't have to worry about extractor issues. Both calibers use the same frame. This message has been edited.
