DFW_JoseSig 229 Optic Slide
Somewhat new guy here. I tried searching but didn't find what I was looking for. I have a 229 and want to buy a separate optic slide for it. The only options I see are the Sig Pro Cut Slide and the factory Sig slide. I see the Pro Cut Slide shows compatibility with the Romeo, Delta Point Pro, and RMR. Does the factory Sig Slide have the same compatibility?

4MUL8RYou would be best informed by calling Sig.
The slide with R2 designation is an important distinction for optics.

DaBigBRSig is notoriously inconsistent. The R2 cut is the newest cut and SHOULD have screw holes for DPP/R1P and RMR. Using an RMR or RMSc (same screw pattern as DPP but smaller) footprint optic is best done with a filler plate that brackets the optic within the cut.
It is possible that you could obtain a slide with the right cut but only the DPP/R1P holes. The RMR screw holes can be added relatively cheap.

Pete KI have spend a bunch of time any money buying slides, modifying their existing cuts, punching additional holes, adding adapter plates etc.
I’m done with that foolishness. Last P226 slide I installed a dot on was sent to a reputable shop and direct cut for the optic of my choice. That is the only way I will do it moving forward.

4MUL8RI just purchased the RMR, after purchasing the Romeo-X. I favor the RMR screw hole pattern and screw size, over the DPP.

DFW_JoseThanks everybody for the info. Really prefer to keep my factory slide stock and find an optic cut slide to swap into it.
Curious Pete K, where you got the slide optic cut, where they able to finish it to something matching the factory finish? Was it a Legion gun?

feynslowbladeI have a Pro-cut slide for my P320 and P226. With a CHPWS filler plate, they work great. For the P229, contact sig customer support to check if the pro-cut works with your version. A buddy of mine tried to get an optics slide for his P229 and it does not work and had to return it. Also the procut only works with 9mm P229s. I have 2 40 cal 229s so not joy on pro-cut slides.

I sent my slide to Vulcan Machine Werx. I chose to not refinish the machined area directly under the optic. They didn’t disturb anything else so the factory nitride is intact and looks perfect.

Thanks. I'll be sure to call them if I decide to go with that slide.

Good to know if I decide get my slide cut. I think I'm leaning right now towards picking up a DA/SA 229 Legion optic ready. Just to have the both worlds, both DA/SA and SA only. I believe it shouldn't be a problem swapping just the slides between guns.
