I have owned lots of "Classic" SIGs over the years and generally preferred the pre-2006 ones.

After selling off my earlier P220's some years back, I want another one.

It looks like the only one available right now is the P220 Elite.

How are the quality of these compared to say a pre-2006 gun?

I have had one of the Elite models for over a year. I have 1000 rounds through without any issues. FMJ, HST, Silvertips, and Critical duty all run fine.

I'm actually considering buying this one:

It's optic ready (not that I really care that much) and seems to be the latest and only version available.

Loads of Leo trade in 220’s out there, got mine for roughly $390 maybe a year ago, had been shot hardly any at all. Good luck as they are definitely out there.

Just out of curiosity, why is 2006 your cutoff?

That's when the Cohen era began and quality began to dip.

My newer P220 Compact is every bit as good as my P245, probably a stronger design, and easier to find parts for. I'd have no qualms about buying a new production P220.

Never had a bad quality Sig, they all work like they should, old or new.

I got a P220 Legion in 10mm last year, and it’s easily the best-shooting service pistol I own.
