Perhaps the guy who designed this one or some of the other “Mastershop” offerings—?

All kinds of ridiculous gimmick models came to the market, ever since Cohen took over SIG USA. My guess is, Cohen has the final say of what makes it to the production line, no matter who makes the suggestion or design.

parabellumI agree, but I don't believe for a second that the ideas for this gaudy stuff originate with Ron Cohen.

HRKFilm has played a big role in consumer firearm demand, certain films have impacted the market more than others, Dirty Harry's Big Bold 44, the 44 AutoMag,
We could probably have an interesting thread about movies, guns and who's bought because of seeing it in a specific film or group of films, wait, I think we did that, yep,

Sig doesn't have squat on CZ, you want bling, I give you The CZ Parrott, actually saw and held one at FL Gun Exchange in Daytona...

AJDPhil Strader was the head of polymer pistol development and is a big competition shooter and had said he was trying to compete with the “Gucci” market with the 365 Spectre Comp. Ron Cohen’s favorite Sig from an interview I saw several years ago was the P210.
I don’t have a problem with any of this stuff if they continued to offer traditional models. No 6” P210 that was shown years ago at shot show, no US made X-Fives that were supposed to be coming, all stainless steel Classic P-Series guns gone, p225a1 gone, P227 gone, etc.

oldiron1To each their own. Personally, I'm excited to add this one to my collection!

pedropcolaThe Parrot is a sweet gun. I love CZ’s and they are really good shooting match guns. I’m nowhere near good enough to take full advantage of them but I can shoot them better than my guns. My buddy had some high end CZ’s (I topped out at the Shadow 2 which is a great gun) and they make you look better than yo7 actually are.

Lefty SigFor some reason the Parrot doesn't like pimp-y. It's a serious competition gun and I can see the shooter wearing a jersey and hat with the same color scheme. Or just a Hawaiian shirt.
I've seen one at a store and held it, the 1.5 lb trigger is insane. But it's pretty dedicated to a right handed shooter, with the big gas pedal and other stuff.
But if I got one I'd probably go for the Czechmate.

Sparky315I wonder if Sig is having Parker Mountain Machine make these comps? If so, they work really well. I also think the gold looks tacky as hell. Much prefer a Glock 45 with a PMM single-chamber comp and a Timney trigger.

SIG's just behind what other people in the aftermarket have been doing for like 2 years now in the aftermarket. The 320 is really gaining ground on Glock for the Internet "cool guy" gun community.
Compact length slide with compensator on full-size X frame is very much in vogue. It's also quite functional.
Frankly, this is the best looking "custom" thing SIG has done in quite a while. I'm not a huge fan of the TiN coating, but the rest looks good and is functional. Definitely could do without the tramp stamp logo on the side.
Good grief...makes me think of '56 Pink Cadillac's & fur covered cowboy hats with Ostridge plumes...YMMv but that's one ugly pistol. Rod

You make your point, but you'll refrain from this kind of stuff with me, and I'm not asking.
There is no reason that SIG couldn't find a black coating that would work.

OgieBut wait! You could buy two of them and have photos taken of you with them crossed at about mid-section height while emphasizing a gold chain necklace with a huge gold medallion hanging from your neck!

Pimpin ain’t easy. There’s always the optional purple velour jacket with the big green dollar sign on the back.

jjcSig is selling tons of 320's and lately the 365's
are running out the door. Sig hasn't done these numbers with any other models before. Sig did learn. the more models they offer the more guns they sell.
I always thought gold was way to glitzy but when you look at some of the new things coming out recently gold is big in the custom guns.
I do like this comp gun though, hopefully they offer that slide, if so I'd add a 5th 320 custom build to my bunch, I love to have it.

Actually, once you read this article the answer is clearly YES.
(it comes in BLACK, and is a commercial widely used variant)
By reading this Wikipedia article it clearly shows TiCN makes a black coating and is used for that purpose on a lot of items.
Items in quotation are from the article you cited----
"A well-known use for TiN coating is for edge retention and corrosion resistance on machine tooling, such as drill bits and milling cutters, often improving their lifetime by a factor of three or more.[13]
Because of TiN's metallic gold color, it is used to coat costume jewelry and automotive trim for decorative purposes. TiN is also widely used as a top-layer coating, usually with nickel (Ni) or chromium (Cr) plated substrates, on consumer plumbing fixtures and door hardware. "
"
There are several commercially used variants of TiN that have been developed since 2010, such as titanium carbon nitride (TiCN), titanium aluminium nitride (TiAlN or AlTiN), and titanium aluminum carbon nitride, which may be used individually or in alternating layers with TiN.
These coatings offer similar or superior enhancements in corrosion resistance and hardness, and additional colors ranging from light gray to nearly black, to a dark, iridescent, bluish-purple, depending on the exact process of application.
These coatings are becoming common on sporting goods, particularly knives and handguns, where they are used for both aesthetic and functional reasons. "

TirodSIG is responding to the customer demand that already exists. As said, custom guns from other sources already come that way, and so do the barrels.
Just like Detroit, when CA came out with white cars with pastel color stripes and matching twin blade wipers, then the dealers wanted them to sell to the public. BTW, the original wipers were silicone blades and they lasted 5-6 years. Nobody can find them much now, even singles, because the blade styles changed, shutting the door on that.
Anyway, right down to convertible top trucks, when custom assemblers put together a color combination and the public clamors for it, the makers will line right up because taste is in the eye of the beholder. Having said that, I took me about ten years to get used to a Coyote handgun. Now I have one. What with Grip Zone excess, windows, ports, forward serrations, rail dust covers, etc. the nicest looking new handgun lately was the P365 and it didn't need front serrations either. Slick is the next trend after all the overdone race guns run their course.
If the front sight was an LED things would be even better.

PatenHey, there's a place over on the other side of Tampa that does that TiCN coating. If I get my FCU, trigger and barrel coated in it, could I sell my pistol for 2.5 times what I paid for it?
