I had good year last year. Hit a personal goal. I'm looking to reward myself, I guess.
I tend to buy a nice pistol for things like this, or at least I have for the couple times in the past I've had big life events. I guess I can toss turning 40 onto the pile too...

Anyway, I'm looking for some advice as I'm likely going to be ordering blind as my local ffls don't stock the kind of thing I'm looking for. All are in similar 2kish price range.
So far my choices are:

Cz czechmate
Sig p226 x5 with the g10 grips
Dan Wesson dwx

I have a couple sao sigs already, as well as a couple nice CZs including a TS2. Also, quite a few 1911s.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

I’ve got all three and they shoot great. I’m just wondering where you’re getting a Czechmate for $2K?

Here's some basic info.

Weight with empty magazine:

DWX - 44.8oz
Czechmate - 45.4oz
Sig - 46.2oz

So they're all about the same weight. The Czechmate has the lightest trigger, but like all CZ TS pistols, it has a poorly done reset. The DWX is the only one of the three with a straight back trigger pull. It also has the most crisp break and a very audible and easily felt reset.

Ergonomically, I feel both the Czechmate and DWX are both a little better than the Sig, but I'm not big on the way a high bore pistol points for me. The Sig most definitely has the highest bore, withe the CZ and DWX being mid-level in that regard.

The factory grips also favor the DWX in my eyes. They offer a palm swell and excellent traction. That being said, grips are easily changed out, obviously. While all have good fit and finish, I feel the Dan Wesson is maybe a half notch above. Its also the only one of the three not containing any MIM parts.

Having a decent amount of trigger time behind the three of them, the DWX is my favorite. Unless you want to shoot Open Class and use the Czechmate's 3-port comp and C-More sight, I see nothing it will do that your TS2 doesn't do already. After all, the Czechmate is a TS, after all. Besides that, the Czechmate is at least $1000 more than the Sig and Dan Wesson, due to its added accessories.

^^^^Out of those three, the X5 looks the nicest to me and functions great. I wish I was able to find a Sig P226 X5 Allround for a decent price.

Yeah, the dwx is probably the best option in my mind too. I just need to find one without the optic cut. Of course that means I also have to buy more mags

As to the czechmate, I found them last Christmas for around 2400 when I originally thought of doing this. Seems they've gone up to about 2800 - 3k in the interim. That's gonna push it out of the doable price range at this time. And I really only wanted one because of how the big 3 port comp looks. I'm purely a range guy, no competition shooting.

Don’t overlook the CZ Shadow2. They shoot amazingly well, and I’ve seen them on sale for under $1,000 recently. CZ also makes fancier models of the Shadow2.

Of the three you mentioned, I’d go with the CZ or the DWX. Sorry SIG.

I don't like rails on a handgun and the CZ is the only one shown that doesn't have a rail. In addition I have a TZ 75 /88 that is a wonderful shooter now that I've cut down on the mainspring to bring the DA trigger pull down to 10 lbs. BTW factory on that was 15 lbs. So my choice is the CZ for these 3 guns. However I really do like the 1911 so if there is a non railed DW at the same price that would be my choice.

I've stopped counting.

I used to feel a similar way about rails. The problem is just about all the nice pistols these days have them. I do like the fact that the rail generally puts more weight out in the muzzle end of the pistol.

I'm one of the oddballs on this board that tends to prefer my guns to be "railed and tailed" as they say here. I also prefer the extra weight they tend to add out front.

I expected a better trigger on the X5 I handled.

I think my Legion 226 SAO trigger is better.

Really like the one on my DWX.
