The wicked flee when no man pursueth |
I want a 380 ACP Ruger LCP to carry in my front jeans pocket or the front pocket of a pair of basketball shorts when I'm lounging around the house. I find the P365 too big, blocky and heavy. I'm looking for a gun to wear when I wouldn't otherwise have a gun and one specifically that is flatter than my normal J-frame (and no heavier). It seems like the original LCP is the flattest and lightest. Part of me thinks I should just buy one and add the MCarbo trigger and other parts to it. Part of me says the LCP Max may be small enough. I have an original LCP and a LCP22. I don’t have a strong preference for either of the two. I’ve read enough reports about problems with the LCP Max to not currently have any interest in one.

I have had the first two and the LCP II is a much better gun, in my opinion. The LCP Custom was a good gun and wish Ruger would have stayed the course with it as it had an upgraded trigger and real sights. I have no experience with the Max but it offers a higher capacity in a similarly sized package and it has real sights. The sights made a big difference for me, as it showed what the pistol could be with real sights.

I have an LCPII and am very satisfied for such a cheap gun. Very reliable ,for me at least no more difficult to shoot accurately than my glock 42 ( which I dumped due to size) The trigger is very glock like ( glocks are my primary service size gun) The original LCP has a very long trigger reset with a sort of false reset point which drove me crazy.

"No-dash" original lcp for 175 was a "no-brainer".

I voted LCP max for a couple reasons….improved trigger and much better sights as well as 10 round capacity as opposed to 6 rounds. The max is slightly larger, mostly the grip, slide appears to be the same length. It does fit in a pocket easily. Personally, for me, I don’t like any of them due to they are too small in my hand and not fun to shoot at all as a result. They do have the benefit of easily concealed though and something is better than nothing ________________________ Those who trade liberty for security have neither

Max all the way. Had a II, sold it when the Max came out. Fits in the same holster. Excellent capacity and you get real sights, the front is a even a night sight. IDPA ESP SS

I say get the II. Don't know anything about the Max, but I have the original. Three of them, but my first one keeps going after 1400 rds. I use these 7 rd mags: https://shopruger.com/LCP-7-Ro...e/productinfo/90405/ I'm happy with the original, my one complaint is that the slide does not lock back on an empty mag. The II slide does lock back. FWIW, original mags do not fit the II.

Get my pies outta the oven! |
None of the above Get the Kahr CW380 The LCP is snappy, the Kahr is very soft shooting for a .380 and the trigger is 1000x better

You are missing the best option and the way I went. The original LCP gen2. Same as the original but a way better trigger. Was called a custom for a while.

I've pocket carried a Custom for almost 7 years. I think they were only in production for a year or two, much better trigger but still long, mine averages 10.5 pounds. Davidson Exclusive sold a Model 3755 which was supposed to have the Custom features so I bought one and it is indeed Custom. My Max has been back to Ruger twice and I haven't been able to shoot it enough to confirm reliability. I never wanted a LCPII because of the shorter/lighter trigger. If I were you I'd go for the original if you can't find a Custom.

Thank you Very little |
LCP Max, traded in the LCPII, more capacity and it's still light enough for pocket carry, 10+1 capacity made the decision easy for me.

Max. Given my longstanding aversion towards .380 I never thought I'd do this but I just bought one myself. My P365 is just a hair too large for pants pocket carry with my body size and it's got that snag-easy trigger design to boot, not exactly ideal for stuffing into an already too-tight pocket even with an "appropriate" holster. Even though the single-stack LCPs are technically smaller, I never cared for the recoil of the original and while the II is better, that one's slightly smaller form factor isn't reason enough for me to pass up on added firepower capacity. -MG

gotta be the Max. For all practical purposes no bigger than the earlier LCP versions, more capacity. Mine has been problem free and shoots surprisingly well.

I have an OD colored one. Slightly better sights and better trigger than the "1st gen" original, I still carry it today mainly as a back up, but as a primary as well in the summer. Extremely reliable, but not the easiest thing to shoot beyond 7 yds. But at 15 feet, no problem. .380 has gotten popular in our household; my wife has a S&W Shield EZ and carries a G42. In recent years, I got a Beretta 85B and it is a great little gun. Voted Max since that's what I decided on for myself. Loaded with Underwood Xtreme Defenders it is no joke.

Just mobilize it |
I have an original with only mods being a Galloway precision guide rod, a hogue rubber grip and I painted the front sight white. It’s a point shooting gun IMHO and is not as accurate or pleasant to shoot as my Glock 42, but it’s a diverse beast. Mine has been 100% reliable for over 500 rounds and it’s fine for room distance engagement. It’s absolutely the lightest and most snag free gun (other than my Kel Tec P32) that I own to carry. I have a nice little custom gray elephant pocket holster for mine and I love it.

I’ve got a Gen 2 that has been stellar, about a year ago I bought a Max because I like the extra capacity and better sights, my 84 yr old father in law saw it sitting in my pocket holster on the counter and asked what it was, I unloaded it and handed it over for him to check out, he still has a Gen 1 and instantly fell in love with the Max. I gifted it to him on the spot, figured I’d rather him have something he can see the sights on and is comfortable for him. He’s shot it quite a bit and is very happy with it.

I have an LCP Custom (red trigger) and an LCP 2. The custom has a lot of sharp edges and beats up your fingers pretty quickly. LCP 2 is much better in that regard. Both have been flawless in operation. If I was carrying it in my waistband, it would be the LCP 2, no question. But I just don't feel comfortable with that shorter, lighter trigger pull in my front pocket, even with the Glock-style trigger safety. (Yes I use a holster!) I'm much more comfortable with the long, hard trigger pull of the LCP 2 in my front pocket. I'm probably the oddball though.
