I’d say they are popular. The quality is generally very good. The 1911 can be finicky. Shorter lengths, various calibers can affect how well the platform runs. I’ve never personally witnessed a 5 inch Kimber chambered in .45 ACP develop problems.
Matter of fact, if I decide to shoot single stack division, I’ll probably get a Kimber.

ruger357Things may have changed but 10 years ago I never had one that would run and saw very very few that ran in training or competition. Im speaking of their 1911s. The only thing that would tempt me is their little six shot 357 revolver at this point.

ukhayesTheir standard 1911 mags are iffy. With Kimber Pro or Chip McCormick mags I've never had an issue.

xd45manI've been reading this thread and browsing the Kimber America website. There are so many choices. I can't decide if I want a pistol with one of those red dots or if I want something I can CC. I usually CC my XD 40 subcompact or my PX4 Storm. All my pistols are about 20+ years old. So I am still deciding and maybe Santa Claus will bring me something.

SHOOTIN BLANKSI have two and with McCormick mags and a good gun grease they run like a top. I use Slide Glide. They are just remarkable shooters. When I take someone unfamiliar to the range I always have them shoot one and they amaze themselves.

OttoSigI have to tell myself everyday not to pick up one of the next gen 9mm.
800$ for a bobbed, front strap checkered, bull barrel, optics ready 1911 is quite a deal.

What Model are you referring to?
EDIT: I see now. Next Gen is the model. I was unaware of it. If it runs, it would be hard to beat.
