got2hav1Minty 586
To tag along with BryanZ06's Model 28 I picked up this minty 586 no dash today. AAE serial puts it in the '81-82 time frame. I have a Nickel version and this will make a nice companion for that one. Nice figure on the stocks too!

ridewvBeautiful revolver, I really like the polish and bluing on the older ones.

LincolnSixEchoCongrats on a sweet looking 586! I’m digging all these older Smith threads lately. I only wish I had been as enamored with them 15-20 years ago when they were more plentiful and less expensive. Still a few very good examples and deals to be had though it seems.

sigarms229Absolutely beautiful. Nice score.
I'm very jealous!

RoofussNice pick up ! They are good shooters as well. I have a 4 inch and 6 inch and are definite keepers.

inspcalahanBeautiful old Smith! Thanks for showing it - while I'm mostly a Colt guy, Smith's like yours make my eyes wander for sure.

parabellumThe L Frame is S&W's Goldilocks .357 Magnum. The N Frame is too big in terms of today's revolvers and the K Frame is too light for the cartridge.
The L Frame will stand up to a ton of full power .357.

iron chefI'm partial to old S&W revolvers made before 1990. Yours reminds me of a 586-1 I used to own.
Take care of it, b/c you can't find bluing like that anymore, and it's very difficult to find examples in as good of condition as yours. That's what really catches my eye when I go browsing used wheel guns.

k5blazerBeautiful 586! I have a beauty like that I got off of Gunbroker. I was looking for a truck gun and paid a song for it. When it came in I was shocked at how nice it was. My FFL told me I should go to confession cause I stole it.
Nice line you got there. Congrats and have fun.

old rugged crossSweet, S&W still make the 586. Is it still as good as its early versions? Is the lock no lock still a thing?

Ronin101i had a nice 581 that I bought from my agency and then decided to sell it. IT had the beatiful bluing. I almost took the gun back when he told me he planned on polishing the entire gun

I believe they do, in their "Classic" line of revolvers. They look nice but they have that hideous lock so I'm not interested.

barry1967My local GS has one of these for sale. Very nice condition. Can't remember if it has a dash or not. No safety lock though. So it is a bit older.
No box or manual. I can get it for $900
Is that around what you paid for this one.
More than a few, less than others!

got2hav1Barry, I paid a little less than that, but that's not an awful price. I would try to get it for 750-800 without the box. IMO.
