The P245 thread reminded me of a similar pistol but it had an extended beavertail. Was it certain years of the P220 Compact or some other model all together that combined a single stack classic Sig in 45 with this frame?

You may be thinking of the Carry series. The P220R3 - R is for rail. 3 is for 3.9" barrel - is called the Carry and Sig sold a variant it designated as Elite, which had an extended beavertail.

I'm not sure of the difference between the P220 Compact and Carry.

The picture below is a P220 Carry Stainless Elite. Note Beavertail. There were also Basic Elite, Dark Elite, Platinum Elite, and Equinox Elite models sold.

The carry is a full-size grip with shorter slide. Like a 1911 Commander vs a full-size.

The compact has a shorter grip and slide

I’m not sure if this model at the following site originally came in that format as an SAS, but I seem to recall some in the classic Pseries format. Da/sa.

I've got one of these uncommon gems. Very nice shooter as well as a CCW choice.
