Hey Bruce,Scott,
Scott was kind enough to e-mail me pictures of my two-tone (nickel slide and controls, super black frame)P220 Elite 10mm conversion. Very nice.
I did not see any indication on the slide or frame that your GGI signature was present. Have you decided not to label your handiwork?

We've been talking about that. We don't dare pack up all 20 slides into a box and ship them to the laser people because if that box was lost or damaged, we'd be completely screwed.
We've been discussing personally taking the slides to the laser guy ourselves but the scheduling hasn't worked out yet. I'll get back on bruce about it when he gets back from his vacation.

Thanks dhb and Flork. I want to be the first one called when you start the second batch. Or at least don't tell me I'm not the first.

Wouldn't it be possible to make a 10mm conversion barrel that would work with P220 .45 slide?
That seems to be what my Delta Elite is for the Colt Government Model.

Actually, the Delta slide is very different from the original .45 1911, and shouldn't be seen as a caliber conversion in the sense that I believe this question was posed.
Some simple caliber conversions work pretty well, and others do not. For example, the difference in base diameter between 9X19 and .40S&W (among other factors) permits reasonably reliable use of a 9mm barrel in some .40S&W pistols.
On the other hand, the unmodified P220 .45 breechface and extractor doesn't play nicely with smaller calibers like 10mm. I've done it as an R&D experiment, and it's not an optimal deal by a long shot.
Since our objective with this project is to build up truly reliable pistols rather than balky compromises, we opted to go with the system we developed that includes properly dimensioned breechfaces and extractor fits.
Thanks for letting me expain this stuff.

Update: I have returned from our laser engraver with all the slides logo'd and back together. I will be checking each pistol out again myself next week in anticipation of the magazines arriving by Wednesday or so.
We'll get that group photo together ASAP.
If we haven't sent you a final invoice yet, please expect one by the end of the coming week, once these mags are in hand and we are ready to start shipping. Thank you!

Any idea when those of us on the second list will be able to send our Sig's in?

Bruce, as the "end is near", you've got a bunch of guys slobbering all over themselves with anticipation! Given your work, the wait will be worth it, I'm sure! Barsto could probably make a 40 S&W conversion barrel for your 10mm, so given what you had to do to engineer it, do you now think that a feasable option if anyone wanted to shoot cheaper 40, as well as 10?
You're one Fart Smucker......We discussed that recently. The only problem I can think of is magazines. They might hold the 40 too far back to feed reliably, we'll talk about it and let you know.

It ain't like the magazine producers don't owe you guys some love. Change the follower and the spring, stick a little U-shaped thingy down the back...The only question is what color the base pads should be - what's more frou-frou than hot pink? Lavender? Chartreuse?
I wouldn't be surprised if y'all could put together some kind of group buy on the barrels if you found a solution on the magazines, and perhaps get a few 357SIG barrels made as well (hint, hint).

Given the cost of 10mm ammo, a slightly less expensive alternative would be nice...and make it less likely that this becomes a safe queen that gets only gets to the range once or twice a year.
Would have to defer to both Bruce and Scott's expertise about the reliablity of an insert to the magazines with a new follower/spring; but from a lay perspective, it would seem that it would work.
Not sure how Bruce's magazine mfg would feel about it...nor should we expect GGI to aborb all of the R&D expense for this modification.
I would purchase both a .40 S&W and .357 barrel were they and the modified magazines available. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Anarion,
