Smith and Wesson no.2
Finally found one at a “reasonable” price. Been looking for a while for one to go with my no. 1. I figure they are a pretty important piece of US handgun development history.



It’s a fairly well worn second model, looks like a production date of 1862 based on SN. Good solid mechanical shape, times and locks up tight.

Is it bad of me to wish that someone made low pressure .32 rimfire so I could shoot it at least once?

Navy Arms made .32 rimfire at some point in the not too distant past. I see it from time to time (or did pre-2020).

I guess I’m actually OK with this one being just a “piece of history”....

But I admit to thinking about trying out the 1847 production Anson that is currently my “oldest” working firearm. All that needs is some BP and a few lead balls!
