There's now a US-made MP38 clone on the market that is supposed to be of good quality. The price is about $4500 so it better be! It's sold as a pistol but obviously begs to be SBRd.

Have a look at it here: www.coppercustom.com

Also, a video of it by the Military Arms Channel was just released and did a review of it.

Cool, but not $4500 cool.

(Plus $400 for the folding stock. Plus $200 for the tax stamp.)

Agreed. The GSG is more than enough for me to take to the range 2-3 times a year and pretend I'm in Where Eagles Dare.

In the days when I worked in my buddy's gun shop, an elderly lady came in the door carrying an old leather suitcase. When she opened it up, it contained an MP-38 (or 40, cant recall), 3 magazines and the issued magazine pouch. Property of her recently deceased WWII Vet husband. We were rendered speechless. But, since we were not licensed for Class 3, we told here to turn it over to the police.
The 4K price on the D-K clone rendered me speechless too.

I feel the same way about the semiauto FG-42 reproductions from Smith Manufacturing a few years back.

Damn cool guns, but not $5k+ worth of cool.

For the collector that must have everything, this is awesome.

Although contrary to what MAC said, I believe these are made from Imported parts made by SSD of Germany (the original company that made this replica), presumably with the receiver and final assembly completed in the U.S., they're legally considered U.S. made I suppose but not 100%.

I'm more excited about the potential for them to offer the FG42 which SSD also made a clone of that in which was never sold in the U.S.

Being a pistol there's also no 922r issues to worry about.

I completely understand the prices for these guns. They are basically limited run/limited audience pieces that are old school designs (for the most part).

You simply are not going to get a well made MP40/38, FG42, STG44. Etc. etc. for 800 bucks. Not gonna happen.

There will, however, be folks happy to pay the premium. I mean look at your average 2011 cost…….Glock money it ain’t. Razz
