CZ P10 F OR SR?
I came across the P10 F optics ready and threaded barrel for $480.00 shipped, should I pick one up before they are gone at this price?

If you have been wanting to buy one sure. Personally I don't buy a gun just because it is a really good price. In general there seem to be a lot of good deals on CZ P10 series for a while now and a glut of firearms from most manufacturers.

I been wanting something that has softer recoil, also looks like it is pretty flat shooting and it feels great in the hand.

As always if possible try to rent whatever you are considering first. For softer recoil a full size steel frame CZ 75 of some sort would probably be a better choice. Some good deals on those pop up fairly often too.

CZ 75 are easy to tune also with wide variety of recoil and hammer springs available from Cajun Gun Works.

Disagree. IME the steel framed CZ75 has among the highest felt recoil of any service sized 9mm when you shoot them all back to back. I'd wager the P10F might feel a bit softer than the CZ75 but I haven't shot one so I don't know for sure. However the S&W M&P, Beretta PX4 Storm, and Glock 17 have very soft-shooting characteristics and have lightweight polymer frames. IME.

That's why I recommend he try out what he is considering as recoil perception can certainly differ from person to person.

My wife tried our Glock 19, HK VP9, and HK P30L but after shooting our CZ SP01 Shadow she has no interest in shooting them anymore and is much more accurate with it too.

BLUF: Buy the p10f OR if you want a striker fired CZ, these are good shooting and reliable pistols. You might also consider the p10c OR if you want a Glock 19 sized pistol. The one I have is very soft/flat shooting for me, likely because it has an a good grip texture and fits my hand well. Recoil is comparable to most other 9mm polymer frame pistols, which is to say manageable for anyone with ordinary hand strength. I would suggest taking a look at this SCS package from FF. You can always source a threaded barrel separately if you need to run a can on it.

I ended up with a p10C that had been advertised as an RMR cut version, but turned out to be an optics ready with RMR cowitness sights. Mine came with extended 17 Rd magazines.

I begrudgingly decided to keep it instead of sending it back. I was pretty disappointed and not happy at all with the situation, but moved on to other projects and let it sit in the safe.

Eventually, I set mine up with a CGW RMR plate and a holosun 507c. I prefer the OR system CZ uses to the MOS system because there are recesses milled in to the slide for using the longer screws some optic makers provide, without having to adjust or cut them down. It looks well thought out and is a good mounting system. A direct cut is still superior and less likely to fail, but this should work well for an optic plate. Holosun now offers a direct mount SCS P10 sight that directly mounts to the p10 OR system. I'd probably get one of those if I could do it over again.

The real surprise came when I finally tested the pistol. At the range, I fired 150 ish rounds of fiocci 124 grain ball ammo. The red dot was at zero with no adjustment required (I've got other pistols with optics and they all required sighting in). The accuracy was impressive and the p10c is on par with any of the steel or aluminum frame CZ pistols I own.

10 rounds 10 yards controlled fire.

So, I am glad that I kept that particular pistol, because it turns out that it runs well and shoots better than I can. I can't say enough good things about them for what they cost.

A P10F is my current "fighting pistol" and it's a laser beam. Head shots on steel silhouettes at 25 yards all day every day. Less recoil than a Gucci'd out Walther PDP Pro SD even with a comp.

A friend let me shoot his PDP and seem quite snappy.

Now I see myself wanting a CZ P10 C additional to the P10 F.
