My latest acquisition. I traded a Smith & Wesson Model 63 revolver 4” barrel in .22LR for this, a 17-3 also in .22LR with a 8 3/8” barrel.

The 63 never felt right in my hands. This just feels right, kind of like my Model 27-2 also with a 8 3/8” barrel.

I have a 586 with an 8 3/8” barrel. It’s so easy to shoot.

I have a 6" model 19 that I love. I had a 8 3/8" S+W .22 and it didn't feel balanced to me, same with a 4" revolver.......to me 6" at least on a K frame or N frame feels just right.

I had a 8 3/8" (I think) Super Blackhawk for a while many years ago, but sold it because my trigger finger kept getting pinched by the trigger guard. The longest one I have now is my Dad's 7 1/2" Redhawk. It's a little too muzzle heavy for me so I rarely pull it out of the safe.

A friend of mine had a model 29 with a 10 and 5/8 inch barrel. He put a scope on it. It was so heavy freehand was nigh impossible, crosshair would dance all over the place. But with a rest, wow. We hung clay targets on a barb wire fence and I can't remember for sure, but picked them off at a hundred yards or more. Good times!

Does it have to be a Revolver?

I like Auto Loaders as much as I like Wheel Guns

OK The AMTs are only 7"

But LAR did make some 10 1/2" Grizzlys and these are in an over the counter caliber . . . 45 Winchester Magnum

They also had their own cartridge 357-45GWM (Grizzly Winchester Magnum) It is very much like the 357AutoMag in performance

Then my Favorite. The Wildey was availble with barrel lengths from 5" to 12" in a variety of chamberings. My personal favorite is the 475 Wildey Magnum

Here is the short barreled one

Colt even started the process to sell 475 Wildeys under the Colt brand

There are lots more out there, like the Artillery Lugers and so on
