See, I'm the opposite. I love Glocks for carry guns, and don't mind if they get some wear and tear from it. I treat my 92 more like a safe queen, and the Inox for sure will be. I may end up carrying the P226, we'll see. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

About 3 years ago I pretty much switched completely to Striker Fired guns. Sold off all my hammer fired pistols. I just prefer the trigger pull of the striker guns over hammer fired guns. Then last year I fell into a couple of hammer guns that I had to have. --Wilson Combat Beretta 92G Centurion Vertec --Ruger P90DC --Smith & Wesson 6906 The only one of those that I've carried has been the Wilson Combat Beretta. I like the other two but that WC Beretta is something special. It's the only Beretta 92 series pistol that I've really liked. A few weeks ago I picked up a Springfield Garrison 1911 in all stainless and gotta say its a sweet shooter. Don't know if I'll carry it but I'm very happy with it so far. In 1999 (to protect the family from Y2K) I bought a Ruger P89 followed by a KelTec P11. Shoot the heck out of them. Fondled a SA XD 9mm, traded the Ruger and KelTec for the SA, then bought another XD (40SW), then the XDs 45. Happy with that format UNTIL I shot a Sig P220 Carry. Sold the SA firearms and have been collecting various Sigs since then - all hammer fired. A P229 40SW is my EDC unless I'm too lazy to put on pants with a belt, then its my lone striker firearm, a P365. I favor the hammer fired system.

No ebb or flow. Hammer fired period. End of story. If you like striker fired, great. That leaves more hammer guns for me. Rod "Do not approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear, or a fool from any direction." John Deacon, Author I asked myself if I was crazy, and we all said no.

Ebb and flow, my hammer fired guns tend to be range toys and my Glocks are the workers. The big thing for me is a consistent trigger, whether a p250, 229 dak, 1911 or Glock 26. DA/SA is fun to shoot at the range, just doesn't see any rotation into the CCW line up. The hammer fired guns I've bought have fallen under the "really good deal" exception to my don't buy guns to sit in the safe rule.

Yes. I vacillate between the two. Appendix carry has forced me to reconsider da/sa. G19 vs hk p2000 is the current dichotomy. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

If it goes "BANG" when I pull the trigger and puts that piece of metal where I want it, I'm in! Started as a kid with a 22 revolver, went into the Marines and played with M-9s and 1911's, a few phenomenal instructors really showed me how to shoot with S&W Mod 19's and 66's. Out of the Marines and on to the Police. Started with a P-226, then a P-220. Unfortunately double action only... But the DAK is the way to go if you have to have double action! Then we finally got the Glocks approved!!! (Long story involving a half-Wit superintendent of police) I happily switched from 8 rounds of .45 to 13 rounds. The striker fired took a day at the range to get used to, but after a few rounds thru it, no problems. When I leave here, and can carry what I want, I don't know... "Flavor of the day" I think... I might feel like it's a 1911 day, maybe a G-17 day... Ooohhh... Haven't carried the Walther PPK in a while. Toss the 340pd in the pocket. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Good topic. I’ve always been (mostly) partial to same-trigger-pull / no safety handguns for carry: P7, Seecamp, Kahr K9, later G43/G43X and Sig 365 after occasional flirting with CZ PCR’s. Of all of those, the PCR I like most, but is too big compared to the others. The P7 always felt the safest/best trigger pull. A DA/SA would make great sense safety wise, but they are always bigger. Why is that? The Sig 938, recent S&W CSX and more venerable Seecamp and Rohrbaugh show that a hammer-fired handgun can be small. Does making a hammer-fired pistol both DA/SA necessarily add size? Will we see a micro DA/SA soon?

I tend to ebb and flow with this as well. I will change up my daily carry from time to time between my Glock 32, and my sig M11-A1. Matthew Logan

I hope we see a DA/SA micro-9 soon. We now have a plethora of double-stack micro-9s available. With the Smith CSX, we now have an option for SA fans. What is absent in the market is a DA/SA micro-9. As there are still people who prefer this method of operation, I'd expect some manufacturer it step in and offer something to cater to that niche.

I finally got serious about training and things finally clicked at a class in June of 2020. I sucked with the DA shot of a DA/SA gun, shot Glock left of POA, and sometimes mashed a 1911 trigger to decent results. I finally learned the importance of running a trigger and having a proper grip. I learned how to run a Glock fast, transitioned to a P320 and P365, and came back to where it all started with classic DA/SA P series Sigs. I’m shooting everything better and practicing more than I ever have in the past. One of my favorite range guns has become an MK25 with a GGI SRT kit and a few springs changed out. The DA pull is fantastic, prepping the trigger to the target and the transition to SA mode really forces me to focus my attention on my finger running the gas pedal. I feel more confident in my ability to shoot about any hand gun proficiently, but there are some guns that just seem to fit my hand as if they were made specifically for me. That’s how I’m feeling right now about the P320 AXG with LOK Veloce grips. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

Ignored facts still exist |
I grew up on revolvers. The I went to a P239. I own a couple of striker fired guns, but I never felt comfortable around them, in particular for EDC carry. A man's got to know his limitations, and for me that limitation means sticking to revolvers and the P239. I tried, I really did. .

I've wondered this too. I'm not a design engineer, but I suspect a DA/SA hammer fired gun requires parts that force the slide to be taller. The HK P30 and VP9 are very similar, but the lower slide & bore axis in the VP9 is apparent. Springfield Armory introduced the XDE as a DA/SA version of their single-stack XDS line. If they could have made the XDE the same size as the XDS, don't you think they would have? I would be first-in-line for a DA/SA version of the P365 that fit the same holsters & used the same mags, but I'm not holding my breath for one.

Hammer's gotta have room to swing, and the arc's gotta be long enough to ignite the primer. A striker pistol just releases a striker along a horizontal path.

I have certainly followed the ebb and flow path a couple of times. learned on Sigs, Da/Sa. Moved to 1911's because they fit my hand and I was more accurate. Went back the first time to HK Da/Sa because Da/Sa might have some advantage if I had to defend a shooting in court. Went back to 1911 when I moved to friendlier confines shall we say. Went back with elbow problems from shooting .45 acp. to 9mm and that got me back to Beretta's and then to Walthers with a smattering of Sigs in there. Oh yes, know the drill.
