12131Question for those in the know regarding SIG GOTMs (specifically, the April 2004 P228)
http://www.guidosst.com/GOTMs.htmlApril 2004 GOTM
Month: April
Model: P228
Caliber: 9mm
Features: HiViz front sight; One 15 round P226 magazine with Freed Designs grip adapter
Part Number: 228-9-HV
Total Production: 535
15-rd mag? But, the Klinton AWB did not sunset until Set 13, 2004. How could SIG have released this package commercially in April 2004 as their GOTM?
The only way to legally release it is after AWB sunset. But, an Apr 2004 gun released after Sept 13, 2004? Weird.

sigfreundI can’t answer much of all that, but I can attest that selling pre-ban magazines during the ban wasn’t prohibited.

NavyEngineerInteresting link! I noticed that the first entry (P226 in 2003) was listed as shipping with two 10-round magazines and 1 15-round mag. If I recall correctly, pre-1994 ban mags were legal for sale (at least by federal law, some localities I had the misfortune of being stationed in didn't allow more than 10 rounds, period). The mags were usually expensive - I recall well used LEO trade-in pre-ban standard capacity mags selling for more than new factory limited capacity mags.

policetruckThat was my first Sig! I bought it from a gun show for about $450. Wish I still had it...
