I recently returned to owning a Sig, having carried Glocks for the past 14 years. My 320 has the DPP / Romeo 1 Pro cut out, but in my research, the Romeo 2 seems to be a more durable option if it is sent to market.

Any actionable information out there?

I emailed SIG and received the following response on August 3rd 2020.

"Due to the pandemic, our release dates have changed. We are currently looking towards the end of the year now."

I am going to hold off from buying a DDP or having holes drilled in the slide for an RMR until they launch the Romeo2.

Seems strange to hold off on getting either of the proven optics available to wait an unknown amount of time (SIG hasn't made good on a delivery date in awhile) for an unproven optic from someone with a spotty reputation. There are plates that can get you from the DPP to the RMR if drilling holes to get the best of the current dots bothers you.

Sound logic, I will clarify.

I wasn't looking for the 320 when I was picking up the 365 but once I held it I was hooked.

I have a gen5 Glock 19 with a Holosun 507C and TLR7 so the urgency is a bit less.

I now switch between a P365 and S&W 1911 Bobtail Commander most days.

The Glock 26 was happily traded in for the P365.

I do not have any info on the romeo2 but I did replace a Leapold DeltaPont pro on my 320 Legion with a romeo1 pro and I am very impressed. It comes with a steel shroud and I am not concerned about its performance or longevity.

If you want to stick with a Sig optic i would reccomend the romeo1 pro for now. The romeo1 pro and romeo2 were announce around the same time and who really knows when it will be released. The romeo1 pro's release was delayed for over a year from when it was supposed to come out originally.

The Romeo 2 has a removable cover which converts it into a closed emitter optic like the ACRO and the Holosun 509.

Otherwise I haven’t seen anything to indicate it is different or superior to the Romeo 1 PRO.

The Romeo 2 has not been publicly released so outside some NDA restricted GOV testing there isn’t much public info to research.

Though never officially acknowledged, SIG’s in-line changes to the original Romeo optic mean there were effectively two generations. The 1 PRO / 1T optics are 3rd generation optics as is the Romeo 2.

Re the DPP: The durability issues with the DPP related to the internal electronics and battery contact issues. The newer DPPs with the blue backing inside the battery compartment are an in-line update and are significantly more durable and reliable than the prior models.

I swear I had
something for this

A few things that have been mentioned is that is uses a 2032 side loading battery, more brightness settings, and can be adjusted using 9mm brass instead of a small flat head screwdriver or the tool the R1P comes with.

I love all of those changes, but I'm not thrilled at the $549.99 MSRP. It may fall to $499 as the Minimum Advertised Price, so it better be human-proof for that price.

The Romeo2 is specified as the only RDS proven durable enough to be guaranteed for use with our P320-10mm. We intended this pistol to be dedicated to this optic as mounted from the Grayguns factory. It will be that good.

However, at this point it's looking like our initial pistols will ship with iron sights on the alternative plate, at least until our friends up the road in Wilsonville are able to supply us.
