So I returned from Okinawa in 1997 and really wanted a two-tone P229 in 40. To me, it was the end all, be all pistol. The trouble was, I was young and enlisted and didn’t have the money for one. After several trades and several months, I finally had one! Time went on and I eventually traded that P229 away. Now I have a hankering for a two-tone, railess/tailess P229 in 40. The hunt is on! :-)This message has been edited. Last edited by: wacopolumbo, Regards, Waco Learning from my mistakes since 1974...

Thank you for sharing the picture of yours, it’s beautiful. Also, there is something about those 12 round mags that brings back nostalgia too. I remember paying $100 or more per mag during the AWB, which was a ton of money for me. I have a standard black railess, tailess 229/40/357 and an all stainless elite in 40/357 so I don’t really need a old school two tone, but damn, I want one! Doing some internet sleuthing tonight, I found a good looking one for $700. I might have to pull the trigger (pun intended :-)) Regards, Waco Learning from my mistakes since 1974...

Yes, they are cool and I always have a hankering for one. I have a P229C SAS and an M11-A1, which I don't think they ever made in two tone. But I will probably grab a TT one of these days. Freewill Firearms 07 FFL, Class 2 SOT

I have a couple of P229s, one is exactly like your 229 TT. I've bought and sold a lot of guns over the years but my classic P series pistols have managed to hang around. The classics are still the best to me. I’d trade the entire 2026 catalog for a mid 90’s to mid 2000’s era Sig.

I made the purchase. Got it used from Basspro on line. The SN puts it manufactured around 1998, which is perfect as it’s about when I got my first one. :-) I’m traveling this week for work. Hopefully I’ll have it home this weekend or next week. I’ll post pics when I get it home. Regards, Waco Learning from my mistakes since 1974...

Picked it up yesterday! A beautiful 1998 vintage P229 which matches the timeframe of my first one. I couldn’t be happier with the condition of this pistol. It came with Hogue wraparound grips which would have been a very period correct thing to do. I put some new stock grips on. It also came with 2 1998 marked 10 round mags and one 2003 marked 10 round mag. I’d normally ditch the 10 rounders, but I’m going to keep them for old-times sake. I have tons of 12 rounders. With my Basspro military discount it was $685 OTD. Now for the pics… Group pics with the other .40 P229s… I also ordered this used CR920 limited edition (less than 100 made) from Basspro. I’m a bit of a CR920 fan. My EDC is a CR920P. While I was picking up the 2 pistols, my local. Basspro had this used 2013 vintage P229 Dark Elite in 9MM. It ended up coming home with me too :-) I had the threaded barrel and light to add to it. It was a good Saturday for pistol purchases! This message has been edited. I have a 229 SAS two tone that I thought was ugly so I sent it back to Sig and they meade it all black for me. It sets under my desk at the ready for the last 15 years. Black is best.

When Sig started doing the two tone by just leaving the slides stainless and all the controls black, it wasn’t nearly as nice looking as the nickel and black look. Regards, Waco Learning from my mistakes since 1974...
