I think .22 magnum is a cartridge that's been surpassed. I don't think .22 magnum doesn't do anything different, that .17 HMR does better and the ammo is about the same cost.

Maybe, but I'm not aware of any .17HMR pistols.

Ammo selection can make quite a difference from a 6" barrel:

There are a bunch if you look for them. Tauras, Ruger, S+W in revolvers. Ruger makes a semi auto in .17 hmr as well and some specialty manufacturers.

There are a few out there, they are also made by Volquartsen.

If Volquartsen had applied themselves, they might have been able to make something more homely than that for the money. Wink

I like the look of it, except the kitchen drawer handle bolt cocking knob.

It's called a competition bolt. It significantly enhances extraction virtually eliminates misfires. You know, kinda makes it the opposite of a jam-o-matic.

If these are anywhere near the quality of their other pistols, they're a good thing.

Well...considering what a Pardini SP chambered in mere 22LR goes for, this flamethrowin' Volquartsen is a relative bargain. Wink

Calling this expensive isn't much different than saying Wilson Combat 1911s are pricey.

Pushing or surpassing $2k for a rimfire pistol? No thanks, even if its a Volquartsen.

Says a guy who's got some money tied up in Volquartsen parts for a 10/22.

I had one briefly. I don't know if it was my particular unit or what, but it definitely was not one of Taurus' better efforts. One chamber was grossly oversize, to the point that it split cases and made them seriously difficult to eject. Trigger was awful, accuracy was spotty. I traded it off (with full disclosure) and lost my shirt on it.

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Volquartsen is overpriced. But, it is what it is for some guns. On 10/22's, Kidd offers nicer designs and comparable accuracy for generally less money. Not too many doing what VQ does on the pistols though

It looks like an overbuilt toy to me and the price does not help it.
