If it was "necessary," you're contradicting the primary reason why Glock is Glock.

If you wade into future threads to espouse the perfection of Glock, meanwhile you've modded the hell out of your guns, you need to check your shit.

If the Tavor is AWESOME, but only after a $400 aftermarket trigger, and so on, then guys, some or all of us are full of shit. That is only one example.

One thing is true. You don't NEED to customize a Glock. Does doing such make it better in any way? Perhaps...

All I've done to my G19 Gen 4 is put in a G17 trigger, Ghost Ultimate 3.5 connector, 25 cent trigger job, and Tru-Glo TFX Pro sights. And a grip plug.

My G23 Gen 3 already has one of the best triggers I've felt, so I'm not screwing with the proverbial Glock "perfection" . I did put in a grip plug and a Grip Force adapter (for slide bite). The only other thing I do plan to do is to put Trijicon HD XR sights on it soon, though. Nothing else.

I see these mods as just personal preference. Does my G19 shoot any better? I don't know, but the trigger feels better to me, so it may make a difference, I don't know...

My truck runs great with the stock exhaust, but I intend to put a cat-back dual exhaust on it just because I want the sound and the look. Also, I always tint the windows of every vehicle I purchase; doesn't make it run any better, but believe me, it's a must here in Southern Arizona!

I put a grip plug in all of mine. Is that customizing them? If not, then sorry to burst your bubble .

Just sights and smooth faced factory triggers in mine as standard procedure.

I did buy a polymer Overwatch trigger to try out only for the reduced pull length, but the factory trigger would have sufficed. I ended up leaving it in one of the Glocks just so it doesn't go to waste in the parts drawer.

I couldn't find a Glock in .38 Super. There was a G21 sitting in the safe. I got bored and then...

I don't own any target shooter only Glocks, so they stay stock and ready for defensive use.

Years ago I played one up all fancy like. And then I got rid of it.

For me most if mine I didn’t “customize.” They were built. They didn’t start out as complete glocks. I sourced, frames, slides, barrels, etc...separately and just put them together like LEGO pieces. Mine have been completely reliable as the guts are usually stock Glock parts. I don’t even do a .25 cent trigger job...just a factory (-) connector. I have actually had less issues with brass to face with my Franken glocks then with stock ones I have.

Indeed. I don't need to round the rectangle of a slide's rear. I can just carry it and have it print like a pimple. Doing so contradicts to why Glock is Glock, even though every other gun maker chamfers or rounds up their slides if there's any chance that the gun will be carried concealed. In fact, it's my problem that Glock figured out how to bevel fronts of their slides but not rears.

Likewise getting front serrations cut in because that's how I run the slide, and because rear serrations are blocked by optic, does not do anything good. Or does it?

Or having the same functionality with a striker control device as hammer fired guns have with exposed hammers. Even if thousands of people subscribed to the idea, I actually remember Bruce posting here in its support.


Point is, Glock has so many redeeming qualities that they get away with absolutely primitive out of box ergos and features. I am not making mine into go golden Faberge eggs, but some stuff makes sense, and not just to one person.

Hi! Arc and I are probably in agreement: Do these mods make the Glock better? Perhaps...depending upon the mods, and the shooter.

I will state flatly that I have yet to see a highly customized, slide-lightened Glock which worked as well or better than it’s stock model. I have yet to see one get through a two-day class without malfunctions, breakages, and excuses. Not once in the past decade that I can recall. Similarly, all the aftermarket triggers induce variables and can cause issues. Most of this stuff does not impress technically. A few such triggers are OK.

But that crazy, artistic BroBuild stuff is “perhaps” not what we’re talking about here? A minus connector, new sights that actually zero, and maybe some judicious ergo work all are reasonable and justifiable. I’m down with it.

I've been told repeatedly by various people, from some in Glock organization to others who were very serious users, that Glocks need their slide mass to function reliably.

Typical example of what I do with mine: optics cut, rear of a slide bevel, striker control device, +/- front serrations, OEM minus connector, possibly 5 lbs striker spring depending on individual sample, grip plug, done.

Better sights, .50 trigger job and cut the grips to G19 length.

That's it....it's a Glock and my edc, I carry it over other pistols because it's reliable and impervious to sweat and if it ends up in a PD evidence locker I have 1 or 2 just like it at home.

Not knocking what some people do to theirs...it's their money.

Sights, smooth faced trigger, factory (or Vickers) ext mag release, factory ext slide stop, Hogue sleeve, "-" connector, polish the guts and maybe a competition trigger spring.
Then shoot the hell out of it.

I have not gone down the rabbit hole of slide/frame mods....yet.

Mostly in 9mm.
17L,34,17,17C,19,19C,26.
20SF in 10mm.
35 in 40.
All were Gen 3 models.

I currently own a 43, my 19C, and a New Glock 17 Gen 5 Wilson Combat Custom that I am so far impressed with but time will tell.
This one is Not the Vickers Edition.

I changed sights to 10-8 in the old days and now Wilson Combat Battlesights with Gold Bead fronts.

I also have been pleased with Glocktriggers Skimmer trigger replacement package that has gone in all of my 19s and most of my 17s.
The Skimmers have shown no issues in the years that I have used them.

The new Wilson 17 Gen 5 has the best trigger I have tried but is too new to make a call yet.
So far so good.

I will own other Gen 5 17 or 19 in the future but do not plan on doing any work to those other than Wilson sight sets.

Glocks tend to work as made and advertised.

It's a medium aggressive pattern. It feels great! I like it much better than the standard gen4/gen5 grips.

I did stipple & undercut the frame on my G27.
Metal night sights, and Suarez semi flat trigger.
Stippled mag extensions to match.
This however is one of my daily carry guns so it's got a bit of wear to it.

^^^^Nice job on the stippling. The lines of the stippling area look really defined and the texture looks spot on. Mind sharing how you did it? Also what kind of holster do you carry it in? I had a Shield textured a little while back and it was quite abrasive for carrying iwb. Your texturing doesn't appear to be that rough/abrasive.
