One thing about AIWB is that it does not work for everyone, and the best place to wear the rig differs, from person to person. Most internet influencers, on such places as you-tube, wear their AIWB holster on or near the vertical center-line of the body. Well, that is not where one’s appendix is located, and, well, at least on my body, that does not work for comfort or concealment of any size weapon. And, maybe because my eye was trained by almost 34 years of police patrol work, but most of those you-tubers and insta-whatever stars are not concealing their front-IWB rigs very effectively, by wearing them at their center-line, IMHO.

I get better comfort, and better concealment, by carrying AIWB so that the cylinder and barrel are right along the inguinal crease. If my cover garment allows, however, I prefer AOWB; outside the trousers.

My skinny fingers, especially with my ring and pinkie fingers being so thin, can manage to get a three-finger grip, with most boot grips, so I am not the best one to give advice about grips.

So I was in a local gun store asking for about a 340 PD to be a future carry piece. The guy there was a little quizzical about carrying a revolver in today's age. How many people still carry a revolver these days? I can't believe its that rare.

This guy! Not every day or everywhere, but I like a J-frame for working out and deep concealment, and I like a bigger revolver (either sp101 in .357 Mag or .45 Colt Blackhawk loaded with heavy Ruger-only stuff) for woods carry (dependent upon the size of the predators that reside in that particular woods).

I shoot the J-frame better than most tiny autos, and it is lighter and can be tossed in a gym shorts pocket if necessary. I've actually been considering switching to the little J-frame as my on-duty backup gun in order to save weight and pressure on my ankle.

For the woods, it's hard to beat the power of a revolver cartridge in a reasonably sized and affordable package. The 10mm tries, but IMO it can't quite compete with commonly available revolver cartridges like .44mag and heavy .45 Colt...and if you want you can go even further with revolvers and get a .480, .454, .460, or .500 S&W.

Despite the nostalgia, I wouldn't carry a revolver as a duty gun, or even my regular EDC piece...I can't argue with the capacity and speed of a semi-auto...but they definitely have their place in a well-rounded defensive gun lineup.

I doubt that revolver carry is “rare,” but the proliferation of inexpensive, lightweight autos, with easy-to-pull triggers, however, has certainly made auto-loaders the leading choice, in recent years, among new gun owners. I am thinking that the big shift to autos started becoming significant in the Nineties. If I had to guess which autoloader really represented the shift to the new normal, I would say the Ruger LCP.

I am a sample of one. My first handgun, at age 21, in late 1982 or early 1983, was a 1911. I thought revolvers were quaint. I had to learn DA sixgunning, however, during police academy training, in 1983 and early 1984, and was required to use DA revolvers as my only handguns, on and off the clock, during my first year of sworn service. To make a long story short, I learned to really like revolvers. Today, in my late fifties, if I carry revolvers, I do not need to worry that my gimpy right hand will cause a numb-thumb/limp-wrist malfunction, while shooting righty, or be unable to effectively run the slide, if shooting lefty. Unable to train much, due to pandemic-induced isolation, it is important that long-stroke DA, with medium- and medium-large-frame revolvers, is my least-perishable trigger skill set. So, I “still carry a revolver, these days.” Or, two revolvers, as continuity of fire is a good thing.

I occasionally carry my Ruger SP101. I have the stock grips on it. They're decent, but being soft rudder, they tend to be a little clingy. I'd like to trade them out for something a little slicker. One of the many "to-dos" with my guns.

One thing I do like is the holster. I use a simple Galco Speed Paddle. That holster actually rides very close to the body, more so that any paddle holster I've used for that gun. It also rides a little higher. I've carried under shirts and the print isn't too bad. It's really nice when wearing a jacket. I carry it right at 3 o'clock.

As far as ammo, I rarely carry full house .357s in the SP101. I have some "FBI loads" that I carry. Remington .38 Spl +P 158 gr LSWCHP. It's a decent SD round and has little recoil and almost no muzzle flash.

Had a Ruger LCR, it's a nice pocket carry, light, simple. The only thing I didn't like is the full release reset of the trigger, and if you don't get it right you can't fire the pistol without re-releasing to the end of the stroke.

I felt that in a situation where you had to make several quick shots you possibly could short stroke the trigger and end up with a mechanical bind, requiring you to reset the trigger to continue... Happened to me several times at the range...

I’d feel very confident loaded up with the 130 HST +P round. It’s my choice of load in my 38 snubbies. When I carry a revolver, it’s usually a K6S. Great size & it offer six rounds. With the onset of colder weather, it finds it way in my coat pockets for carry.

.357 Magnum 158 grain Speer Gold Dots in 3” GP100. Perfect. .357 Sig 125 grain Speer Gold Dots in a P239. Also perfect.

Way too many ‘gun store clerks’ give the worst possible advise.

About 2/3 of the year, that is me.
LCR in .327 Fed. Magnum fills the bill, for me, with 18 rounds on me (two speed strips in other pocket).

Ditto - IMO, it's worth the time and effort to locate a pair of the (older) Uncle Mike's boot grips. BTW, they are sometimes listed as Butler Creek grips.
