Every gun manufacturer has a "dud" get out now and then. The good companies make things right fairly quickly.

Agreed. A quick glance into my safe would make it clear to anyone that I'm a big Ruger fan. It may even be bordering on an addiction. This is the first one I've had any significant problems with, and considering the bargain basement price that they're selling these at, I guess it kinda makes sense that this would be the one. They made it right, though...my son is happy, and while it's not the quality of my single-six, it's actually a decently accurate little gun, and fun to shoot.

Funny thing is I bought one of their SP101’s in 22 caliber. Not a cheap gun. One of their “good” ones. It immediately went back after locking up after a cylinder or two. Barely got it open, cleaned it up just in case of something getting somewhere and discovered the cylinder was dragging so badly on a couple chambers there was no way it would work. Quick turnaround and it’s been fine since.

Yeah, I guess there's always a chance of getting a dud, even with the more expensive stuff. Funny thing, I almost bought a .22 SP101 a few months back but it disappeared from the case before I could get back to the LGS. I did finally find a DA .22, though....I picked up an 8 shot S&W Model 63 a couple of weeks ago (while I was in the shop picking up the new Wrangler, incidentally) and have been putting it through it's paces...I need to post a range report on it at some point.
