I'm looking at ultra compact stuff and the mini revolvers look to be as small as you can possibly get. For times when you can't carry anything bigger does anyone have an naa and specifically any of these models? I see the Black Widow come up again and again in the 2". I wonder if the pug might be too small ballistically and then the ranger seems interesting but I don't know how useful reloading is with guns like these. Any thoughts are appreciated.

My buddy carries a black widow in 22mag in his front pocket all the time. It’s a mouse gun caliber, but I wouldn’t want to be shot by one.

Forget about reloading. You've got five chances and out.
If the Black widow is not too big, that would be the choice, or a Pug with a Black Widow grip. You don't want to use the regular grip, trust me.
I recommend Pug with CVANG grip. And parabellum is right: Don't even think about trying to reload it under duress.

Thanks for that, I feel dumb as I usually search and just let my rabbit hole dive get ahead of me. I want the pug but I'm very tempted to chase the ballistics of the 2 inch. On the other hand seeing as the point is to have something tiny, the pug shines for smallness. That cvang grip is interesting for sure.

These little things are the Spanish Inquisition of hand guns. They come out of nowhere and are merely a force multiplier that will absolutely ruin someone's day.
They aren't a 12 gauge that you can just point and let fly and the opponent is tunarosa.
You have to practice up close and personal with them. I try to get all 5 rounds on the steel as quick as possible. Then it's time to run away.

They are small. Carry two. The second one is your reload.

I somehow sense that two might happen at some point from reading alot of the reviews and feedback from folks.
I also see that there are not a ton of used ones for sale which I take as a good sign.

I have one 22/22 mag. I forget the model, haven’t carried it lately. Yes it’s a true ‘minimalist’s’ gun, still better than the 40 S&W in the safe.
I carried mine with the mag cylinder. If buying used I wouldn’t expect it was shot much, should be close to new.

It really makes all the difference. Granted that it makes the grip a bit longer, but it's still a tiny gun, and you need that length if you want to get more than 1/2 a finger on the grip.
They make that grip in textured G10 now too, which adds even more to the controllability. (The one in the picture is the original plastic material.)

Be on the lookout for a Ranger II or a Sidewinder.
They are a bit more cost wise (unless you want the early Ranger ) but a lot more user friendly.
If targets are your enemy, they also made a few in .17 and the folding grip is your best way to hold on to it.

The NAA folding grip is also good option. Makes small set up when folded. Will certainly add time to draw, but carries like a pocket knife.
I have a ported Pug on the way with both cylinders. Sounds like Gold dots are on the menu if I can find some.

Anubismp: I hunted endlessly for Gold Dots everywhere. An outfit called Southern Munitions had 3 boxes. You might see if you can get the other two. The shipping cost will pucker you up, though.

I appreciate it, I just finished ordering from an army navy place via ammo seek. $20 a box and free shipping over $69. They seemed to have more if you are interested.

I had a Sheriff and second Para’s recommendation of the Black Widow; sold my NAA to someone who wanted one desperately, have not yet replaced it.
Defense? The Black Widow PVD would be my first choice, followed by the top-loading Ranger (only because of price).
Range? Ranger. Reloading the little NAA was a PITA (I didn’t have the patience for it or the Ruger Wrangler) and the top loader at least looks like you could enjoy shooting the Ranger a few times.
