226 Grips
I was in a LGS today and saw a used 226R 9mm with some interesting looking grips. They were checkered and looked and felt thinner than the traditional Sig polymer grips. They had "Sig Sauer" in white letters with a white outline on each grip. I don't know the age of the gun, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't produced in the last 5 or 6 years.

I have A 226R that has the standard SIG polymer grips, but they feel too big for my hands. I like the G10 Hogue grips for the 226, but they are more than I can pay currently. The grips on the gun that I saw today look like a good alternative and hopefully cheaper until I can afford the G10's. I do not think that the grips on the used 226 are G10, but rather a thin polymer. Does anyone know if these grips might be available somewhere? Sig does not show them on their website. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

They were nearly identical to the ones that you show. The only difference was that "SIG SAUER" was straight across and had a white outline around it. Do you know if these are still available? Thanks.

The one above is aluminum, made by Hogue for SIG, on their Elite Dark guns. No longer offered from the SIG Store. I'm sure you can still find them on the aftermarket like fleabay. Not sure about the grips you saw, though.

Wasn't there a "Talon" edition or something that had similar described grips ?

You mean, the "Talo" exclusive Classic Carry models with the funky looking grips? I don't think that fits the description.

Does anyone know how the thickness of the aluminum Hogue grips compare to the G10 Hogue's? Those grips on the used 226 that I saw were very comfortable for my hands. If the G10's are thicker then I may have to consider a pair of the aluminum Hogue's later.

Hogue Aluminum and G10 have identical dimensions.
