Had Chad custom fit these on the 44 Mag Bisley. Beautiful Satin finish, he kind of talked me into the satin over plain matte and I’m very pleased. Ignore my trigger, my trigger spring is not positioned correctly apparently after reinstalling the grip frame. Only realized it after getting the grips on.

OP:

Latest set spalted maple for the GP100.

I know I shalt not covet, but that's hot! The whole thing.
Except the lap, part. We need to work on background a little more. Then it would be 10/10. Big Grin

I put the most unattractive background to really make the pistol the focal point. I’m pretty sure that’s how photography works.

Well, your toes are not in the pic, so it's got that going for it. Wink

Those are nice, love the character in that wood. I'm a sucker for maple, too. I had a nice set from Chig's on the SP101 that I sold my brother. It came with ugly black plastic panels from the factory and I just couldn't abide those. I never did get around to getting fancy panels for my GP100 because the factory wood was actually pretty nice.

Side question, how’s the 10 in that GP100 vs a GP100 in 357magnum?

And your hammer pin is turned wrong

Huh, I’ll look into that. That’s how it came form the factory.

I’m a big fan of Maple myself, especially these Birds Eye maple grips from Chigs I got for my .41 Blackhawk.

I'm not shocked, honestly. My New Vaquero had a number of little things wrong with it that kinda soured me on Ruger a bit. Granted, I bought it when they were still $500 and they're only about double the price now, but the detent for the cylinder stop was loose and fell out and disappeared within the first week of my owning it. Factory free-spinning cylinder mod. Front sight blade wiggles in the notch. The polish is incredibly uneven, even to the point of the backstrap being obviously buffed too much to the point of being rounded on one side and not the other. I know Ruger will supposedly make it right, but I haven't gotten to sending it back and every time I have it out, it kind of pisses me off.

That said, if I ever get off my butt and get it fixed and worked over, I'm going to want to go ahead and get some nice figured walnut or cherry grips for it. I've been eyeballing Chig's site for years.

Mike, sorry I glossed over your question.

I’ve yet to shoot underwood in The 10mm so everything has felt pretty mild so far. I don’t imagine the full loads will be much worse though.

I haven’t shot 357 is 12+ years. I remember the SP101 being pretty snappy with 357 of any kind, but I also seem to recall the GP100 being way better. That was also with the full size rubber hogue grips and not these Wiley Clapp popular small GP100 grips.

Having gone so far in between shooting the two round did I’d feel moderately confident in saying that if everything is equal with grips and weight of the gun, the 10mm would be noticeably more mild.

All good, the hammer pin has a recess it’s supposed to be in. Looking at your pic rotate the pin clockwise to 7:30 and it’ll slip in. You’ll have to remove the grips first. The grip is what captures the tail of the pin.

Appreciate that Mike. I MAY (probably) did miss that when I reinstalled the grip.

I took it off just to make sure there wasn’t any hidden rust or problems.

When I was an FFL I often received Rugers new from the distributor with hidden rust. Maybe something in the way they packaged. Makes me always inspect behind grips and such on new firearms.

GCE91,

Chad has been great. I had a few hiccups in ordering. And he’s been very accommodating.

Great guy indeed.

This thread will cause me to spend money.

I've been looking for grips for an upcoming revolver project.

All of the revolvers above look fantastic!
