I’ll grab a Ruger single action 22/22 mag at some point. But this one will work just fine for a plinking gun.

Texas Bob C.You chose wisely. I have owned one about 45 years. I love it.

blindrefGreat addition to your revolver family. The 17-4 and earlier with the pinned barrels are really great shooters.

P-220There is no denying, the 17 is an amazing classic Smith and Wesson revolver.
Congratulations on this find.

cslinger“She’s a beaut’ Clark”.

There is something Zen like about the 17’s/K22’s. Even if they or you or the ammo are not shooting well they are still just amazing fun to shoot, own and look at. Enjoy it.
Revolvers are awesome. I am a wonder nine era kid. Grew up with Die Hard, Lethal Weapon and the rise of Glock, but I friggin love me a nice wheel gun and really need to shoot mine more.

TheFrontRangeNicely done (again)!
I have a ‘47 / ‘48-era K22 that is both a great “trainer” for DA shooting but also fantastic on its own.

Jim WatsonGood catch.
I think your .22 ought to be your best gun, you will be able to shoot it the most. (Not counting competition and training requiring a centerfire, of course.)

captain127My model 17 got used a lot- by conservative estimate over 100K through it just by me ( mid 60’s gun bought used) never a part failure, replacement or anything but routine cleaning. I could be completely content with just S&W wheel guns, and no autos at all

shovelheadI’ve got a K22 in layaway at work, circa 1950. Hope to have it out in a couple of weeks.

6gunsI was pleased to add a 60's vintage M17 many years ago and then several years later, an M617. I've used both as teaching guns.

OttoSigFinally got it. Blueing is not bad at all. Gonna be a shooter like all my guns so not a concern either way. Found out my brother also has a 17-3.
Probably the finest handgun I’ve ever held.
