SSAreGreat226 MK25 Now Lite Enough for EDC
I have always carried 2 handguns with a 9 mm on my right dominant side OWB, and a Ruger LCR 22 WMR OWB, on my left side. When I purchased my SIG 226 MK25 I bought it as an EDC but found it too heavy to carry. My P 30 L is 28.4 ounces with an empty magazine while the MK25 is only 32.2 ounces, empty magazine, but it was still too heavy. I tried suspenders but did not like them.
I recently bought a new gun from Armour and that helped a little but not enough. I finally decided to try something else this morning when I went out. I put on my MK25 without the Ruger LCR on my left side using my new gun belt and my custom holsters from MTR Inc. I put my little Ruger in the side pocket of my vest and I keep my magazines in the right pocket.
To my surprise my SIG did not feel that heavy and I was able to go out and wear it for several hours without much discomfort.
I like having the Ruger in a side pocket because I can get to it much easier than in a holster on my left side. In addition it has a heavy trigger being a rimfire revolver and I am not worried about an accidental discharge.
Of course the SIG is heavy to carry than my P 30 L but I can now carry my SIG is an EDC.
I was thinking of getting another SIG or HK is my next 9 mm but still unsure. I thought about the M11-A1 or the USP 9 mm. The M11-A1 comes with compatible magazines to my 226 and night sights and irony have a holster for it. The USP 9mm would be a new gun which is exciting in and of itself.
I am still pondering these 2 but now at least I have some more options for EDC and for my next 9 mm.
Thanks for reading this post and happy shooting
