Glad everyone enjoyed the pics; and thanks to 12131 for his assistance. Just some other info regarding Sigs and NCIS. When the M11 was issued agents did have the availability to request the P239 if assignment dictated. There were some old timers that were still authorized to carry snubby 38 cal (S&W, Colt, or Ruger). The new personally owned weapons policy is pretty open and probably one of the best in Fed Service. As for US Postal Inspection Service; it was the exact same pistol (obviously without logos) a P229R DAK 40 s&w w/night sights and a unique USPIS serial number.
Funny how everything is a circle. NCIS went from 9mm to 40 s&w, then open policy with 9mm/40/45 while USPIS went from 9mm to 40 no back to 9mm glocks. Anyway enjoy your weekend and stay safe.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but being a military investigative service, wouldn't (shouldn't?) they have stayed with 9mm?

Maybe they piggybacked on another Fed LE agency's contract (I've heard of that being done) so they went with the .40S&W DAK P229?

Then again, from what I've read, NCIS is predominantly civilian 1811s, unlike the other MCIOs, so maybe that factored in, too?

I thought the same thing until the Coasties boarded us one day for a safty check heading out of Scituate harbor over Labor Day a few years ago. The guys who came on board carried P229R's in 40. I guess since they work under Homeland while they are CONUS they got them off that contract. So the ammo is out there for them to procure.

The 9mm/40 cal debate was had while I was oconus in the sand. We carried jacketed hollow points whenever we carried the sigs outside the wire; powers that be basically said “don’t worry it is fine and it (Geneva) doesn’t apply to you.

FWIW, I was thinking in terms of logistics, regarding 9mm vs .40S&W.

I wonder if Mark Harmon will order one? Or maybe two and give one to his wife?
