I’ve been searching for one for a while. Can’t seem to find one in my neck of the woods. May have to branch out and buy one online. Were any of them ever made in Germany or was it Exeter only?

Pretty sure it was Exter only. Introduced in 2013 and discontinued in 2019 I believe.

Right, the P227 was a SIG US creation and was never made in Germany.

Hey, I had an extra P220 upper in .38 Super. That was the easy part.

The 10 round magazines have to be modified to work with the .38 cartridge and the slide release needs modification as well.

Check clearances when test fitting and adjust accordingly. I had done this before when converting a Glock 21 to .38 Super. The P227 is easier by far.

Oddly enough, the 170mm magazine from a 2011 worked best for me and it was cheaper than starting off with a 14rd P227 mag.

I had one, and now I have it again. OK, that needs some explanation.

I bought one quite a few years back but then sold it to a guy in my club because I felt like my Springfield 1911 was all I needed for .45 ACP purposes. Then I started regretting it, but too late -- the 227 was discontinued.

Then the guy I sold it to started "thinning the herd," and decided to sell some pistols, including the 227. He sold it to me for what he paid for it back then, which was decent of him. Now I have a 227 again, an SAS, just like the one in the OP.

The P227 Tactical is a great suppressor host. Fun gun to shoot, very accurate in my experience. The 14-round magazines are inconsistent and ungainly.

Going to check one out that came into my local shop today . From the picture it looks new . Saw good reviews online and being in NY 10 round mags are perfect lol.

Last month I passed one by at a local pawn shop, it was the tacpak for $1000.
I am kicking myself for not buying now, but I had just spent $600 at the shop before and wanted the wife still talking to me.

I left a deposit on it lol . The pistol didn't even looked fired I couldn't pass on it . Hopefully picking it up over the weekend . Looking forward to shooting it

I changed out the dead nite sights for some Sig X Ray sights and also changed to the short reach trigger in favor of the standard style. I have a GG strut and spring on the way for it. Then off to the range for some live fire testing.

I found a great way to remove the E2 grip. Wedge tools below. Slip between the frame and grip and off in seconds.

I saw a few videos on the grip removal. Definitely G-10s on the wish list although the wood looks great also . Probably do the trigger 1st since that seems to be an upgrade most have done to them .

If you don't have fragile fingernails, you can remove the grip with just your fingers. Fact.

You sir have excellent taste, which just happens to mirror my own, lol. I'm a big fan of the X-rays, hate the short reach trigger, and that Grayguns strut is phenomenal. The other thing I always do is an SRT kit, but being an SAS it probably already has that. You've basically built my ideal P227.

92, yes it already has the short reset. I'm with you on the mods. Don't think it needs anything else. Picked up an extra mag for it, so now have 3 mags. Should be good to go.

Cut down a set of the Hogue grips they made for Sig which accomodated their ill fated 14 round mags.

So I have a question. Those who put panel grips on these guns originally equipped with E2s, how did you do that. I have no screw threads, just the open space where the tabs snap in. Thanks.

If I remember right, I contacted Hogue who had some inserts in stock that they gave me. These are flat steel plates that fit in the frame slots you see. You hold them in place from inside the mag well then insert a screw through the new grip and tighten. I ended up with an extra set of these and gave them to the guy who bought my 227. They are probably a Sig Sauer part that was used to mount the extended grip panels that were used with the longer 14 (or maybe 12)round magazines. Evidently these longer mags never worked very good and Sig stopped selling them. I had about two sets of these longer grip panels that went with my gun. The grip panels on the gun in my photos were cut down. I read some place about a warning to watch out for nasty fumes when you cut or ground down these grips. Took about 6 months to get the smell out of my garage.
