Any love for the P227
I don't hear a lot about these but I took a chance on this one. It has lanquished in a local pawn shop for at least two years. Today was rescue day. Looks like 2013 time frame and is the SAS version. Very little use, no smileys on the barrel. It was bone dry so I oiled it up and now that I see the pics, I probably should have wiped it down again. If you have a P227 show us yours!

I don't have a P227, but I was hoping to come across a PA State Police model as they were in service for a couple of years but were replaced pretty quickly. I have seen a couple of them pop up but I haven't actually been searching actively for one. I will eventually find one, but as I mentioned, interested in one with the PASP markings.

The PA State police still use the P227 and are in the process of getting ready to replace them with a Walther. They have not yet sold them off, unfortunately the local state dealer that was part of selling them the P227 is not part of the deal and I don’t know which dealer/wholesaler is going to get them.

That's a nice-looking gun.

Never picked one up, but my biggest gripe was that almost all of them had the Short Reach Trigger on them and I'd end up pinching my trigger finger on the P226 with that installed.

DanH, same here. I have to really think about trigger finger placement or I get pinched. I will likely buy a standard trigger for it.

Yup. The P227 is kinda cool. Here is mine as it was converted to .38 Super. It holds 26 rounds +1.

Never had any problems with the trigger.

The pinch isn't a problem for most, just us lucky guys. Nice .38 Super conversion!

P227 SAS is the one to have, if you want a P227, imo. The short reach trigger pinch is too common a problem on SIGs equipped with that trigger. Barrel smileys won't show up on a DLC barrel until you get passed 1k rounds. Some have reported 2k without barrel wear. DLC really does live up to its namesake.

Here is the DLC barrel on my ex-P210 American that had 1k rds though it. Zero smileys.

Got a standard trigger on the way! Didn't realize these had DLC coated barrel. Cool!

I also have an SAS, but I got rid of the snap-on grip and went with Hogue G-10s, much more to my liking...

Tooky, I like those grips! I'll see how the E2s work with the standard trigger before changing anything else. I don't dislike the E2 grip.

Is the grip circumference on these the same as 226? Or larger?

From what I've read it's very close to the same size as a P226. I will check mine against my P226 to verify.

From what I remember the P227 with the E2 grip is very close to the grip size of a P226 with regular grips. It's very close, but thankfully it's not Para/RIA 1911 Double Stack size or weight.

I have a 227 with Hogue grips. The trigger was given the Grayguns treatment.

I carry it when ever I'm out on our 4 wheeler on our property.

I've shot one, and remember liking it. I think I prefer the single-stack grip of the P220 just a bit but I wouldn't turn down a P227 at a good price. Our State Troopers are still carrying them...if they ever sell them off I'm hoping to snag one. That SAS is pretty compelling, too, though.

I measured my KA P226 mid way of the grip and got 1.31" thickness. Did the same on the P227 E2 grip and got 1.36". So not much difference at all. By the way the P227 DA trigger pull was just over 10# and SA pull was just under 5#.

I'm not generally a fan of the E2 grip, but the 227 seems pretty comfortable to me.
