Do not feel bad about age and lack of physical strength, I am 65, 5'7" and 133 lbs with tendernitis in both hands and arthritis in my joints. The only compact pistol I can handle is my SIG M11-A1, 9mm, and my CZ 83, 15 round 32 ACP. If people do not like it, I tell them to buy my guns for me and then they can critizie me. The reason there are multiple guns sizes and calbiers is that not all people are the same and "All Guns Matter!" Happy shooting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Democracy is 2 Wolves & a Lamb debating the lunch menu. I wouldn't apologize over anything. Life hands everyone different cards and we deal with what we have to. I have shot a variety of ammo through the EZ, and have chronographed them all with a Labradar chronograph. I think you will find that the Federal Low Recoil Hydra Shok is the mildest premium round. The EZ has a longer barrel by .380 standards, and it generates muzzle velocities closer to factory spec than shorter barrel guns like the Ruger LCP. With the Hydra Shoks, I got an Average of 974 fps for 189 foot pounds of energy (Advertised velocity 1000). Hornady Critical Defense also was mild and only provided an additional 5 foot pounds of energy. If you can handle additional recoil, the Federal HST put down 238 fpe, but the recoil was substantially more. The Winchester PDX1 was in between with recoil and energy at 211 fpe. If you want to carry it on a hike in the woods, Buffalo Bore hard cast 100 grain standard pressure penetrated 8-1 gallon water jugs. Good luck!

That is my spot. |
Sounds like they made that gun exactly for you. A lady friend with carpal tunnel had some and loves it. Sweet little big gun in my opinion! That rug really tied the room together. |
The 5.7 FN is a real gun. I know a guy that carried one religiously and he loved it. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

If you're going to carry rimfire, carry a revolver. And one of the old greats, (Jordan or Cooper) swore by a 22 mag S&W revolver for self defense. A revolver will pesent a new round quickly if a round fails to fire. A semi will not.

My dad ended up in the same boat. I would avoid the .22 magnum LCR if you have grip strength and muscle issues, especially if it's likely to deteriorate. The trigger pull is heavier than the center fire guns, and with reduced grip strength its much easier to pull it off target due to the heavier trigger. The .357 version loaded with .38 wadcutters gives you a low recoil gun with good penetration, resistance to skipping off round bone, and the Hogue "recoil tamer" grip works well. Dad went with a .380 Makarov until his hands deteriorated to the point he couldn't manipulate the slide even by hooking the rear sight on a table and pushing. Now he's using a heavy revolver with wadcutters. No worries of limp wristing malfunctions, no slide to manipulate, he can load it with two working fingers, etc.
