Supposedly they allow for longer life so don't need to be replaced as often. However, I assume you have to replace the entire assembly. I don't see any means to just replace the spring.

I just changed out the assembly in a new VTAC for the GGI fat black guide rod and spring and realized the assembly that came with the gun was captured.

Seems such a waste to replace a metal guide rod and spring just to replace the spring.

What am I missing here?
