gjgalliganP230 v P232
I have a 230, only gun I have ever had a problem with "limp writing". Never even held a 232.
What is the difference?

patwNot much difference with overall style but the p232 is an updated version with a drop safety for the firing pin, I think different serrations on the slide and different grips. They are a fantastic gun and while a bit larger than the Walther PPK versions, I prefer the Sigs more. The only downside is the cost of magazines as they are getting more and more expensive and most you will find are used.

MacGyverThe P232 has quite a few parts changes internally, but really only two differences to the shooter. The first is what
patw mentioned above - the automatic firing pin block making the gun drop safe by modern standards. The second is a rebound spring for the hammer, which means that the P232 slowly lowers the hammer when you use the decocking lever, instead of just letting it drop like the P230 does. This also means the P232 only has two user-accessible hammer positions (cocked and decocked) when the gun isn’t being fired, which is simpler. The P230 has three (cocked, decocked, full forward).
The grips are different between the two guns as well (noticeable palm swell on the P232) and I don’t believe they are interchangeable.

1KPerDayAlso note that both the P230 and P232 were offered in either alloy (blue/black) frames or stainless steel frames. Not sure if/why that would be a contributing factor in your issues. My P230 is alloy.

Chris OrndorffThe small, thin wire hammer reset spring has a negligible effect on decocking. Admittedly it has been a long time since I handled a 232, but I don’t recall the decocking feeling different from the 230.
Also, there are late model 230s out there with a hammer reset spring (which requires a different hammer).
