The 5.7 is like many other calibers for me. I win the lottery I’ll get a PS90 and a pallet of ammo but until then it’s a no. That said, variety is always a good thing when it comes to guns and ammo.

I would not like it on a boat. I would not like it with a goat. I personally think the 5.7 is a pointless cartridge without the ability to buy the armor penetrating rounds that are the reason for its existence. Considering the ammo that is available, I see it as an equivalent to an expensive .22... With less ammo options.

Personally, I’m not interested in the 5.7x28mm cartridge or any firearm that chambers it without the ability to obtain the armor piercing rounds that the cartridge and weapons were designed for. I had a PS90 several years ago and ultimately sold it when the novelty wore off. It just didn’t really do anything for me.

On an unrelated side note, what I am encouraged by is that some companies are making more pistols with steel frames. That is a trend that I strongly support. Honestly any gun that I buy is for fun and will not be used for work or carry as I am restricted by what I am allowed to carry. So for me light weight in a fun gun is simply a non issue and I just like the feel of an all steel gun. Now if only we could get S&W to start making their 3rd generation autos again.....

The 22TCM cartridge provides somewhat similar ballistics as the 5.7, but the 22TCM can be chambered in many firearms that chambers a 38 SUPER length cartridge. This includes AR-style rifles, carbines or SMGs. Even UZIs would be convertible to the 22TCM

My 5" 1911 moves the factory 40 grain JHPs out at just a tad over 2000 FPS.



The 22TCM cartridge is easily hand loadable. Brass and projectiles for the 22TCM are readily available and fairly inexpensive

Granted you can not use the really pointed projectiles like the 5.7, but that is not a problem for me

I do not see where the 5.7 comes in and provides anything else other than saying I have one more caliber

I'm not too interested in that cartridge. Even in a true PDW, I find it lacking compared to other options.

RIA makes 22TCM pistols in single stack and double stack, Standard and target models. Prices vary from around $400 to over $800

The Ammunition is about $17-$25 for a box of 50 depending on where you buy on-line. Full case purchases will obviously be more economical

No. Maybe it's a function of my advancing age, but the older I get the less I care about having a lot of different gun-related stuff. There's no one for me to leave anything to and my wife definitely doesn't want any of it. Over the past few years I have "gotten out of" 45 ACP, 40 S&W, 357 Sig and, for the most part, 38 Special. Soon it's likely I will only own 9mm handguns, except for a couple of 22LRs. A couple of people I know have even sold everything except for their 9mm Glocks, for example. It's somewhat appealing but I'm not at that point yet.

You know, I can't even imagine what a Glock gripframe would feel like chambered in that caliber. They'd have to do a metal mag, and that's something they don't seem willing to do. A pre-Gen 4 or non SF 21 is too big for many people's hands. A 5.7x28 has different dimensional issues than a .45ACP, I know, but I still don't see how they could make it work without a massive design shift.

SIG would turn out several models, and magazines would be expensive. They'd discontinue probably half the models after the first year and drop support. Then they'd come out with the SAS Emperor Fastback Spartan Scorpion Rainbow Carry II edition for a year and then discontinue that and drop all support for it.

I'd like to see more availability for the cartridge, but only from manufacturers willing to put skin in the game rather than dip their toes in the water.

I love my SIG's 226 & M11-A1 but I agree with your criticism of their faults.
