I “heard” that the newer M17 optic cut has two sets of drilled holes. Apparently you can mount either the DeltaPoint using one set of holes, or you can mount a Holosun (or others that use that footprint) in the other set of holes. By doing this they said you wouldn’t need an adapter plate. Can anyone confirm this about the second set of drilled holes?

It depends on when it was made. The newer ones have holes drilled in it to accommodate the footprint of the Trijicon RMR/ Holosun 508t. Theoretically you could run one of those optics without an adapter plate. Would I even consider running an optic on one without an adapter plate to create a snug fit even with these holes? No way. Optics should be run with as tight a fit to the slide fore and aft as possible to support it and keep it in place. When there is space between the optic and the slide you are relying on two very weak little screws getting battered by the forces of recoil. Eventually they will break and likely the optic will meet your face. Proverbs 28:1

Thanks for the reply. I just brought mine home last night. According to the sticker, it left the factory in late March 2021. If I mount an optic, I’ll use a plate. I was just curious. Guess I’ll have to take the original plate off tonight and have a look.
