What type of poundage's should I expect for a stock 228 trigger pull? Both DA & SA. I bought this gun from somebody here on the forum several years ago and when I got I was disappointed at how heavy the pull was so it has been just sitting in the safe.

A lighter hammer spring does wonders for most P series Sigs. 18 lb usually works well. Some folks go lighter for range use, but that is a bit light for a carry gun. It needs to go bang on the first pull, every time. Most get a Wolfe spring kit, with 3 weights, and see what works best. Also, some brands of primers are softer than others.

Typical spec numbers for SIG DA/SA pistols are 10 lbs DA / 4.5 lbs SA. But, like any production guns, sometimes you will run into one that's out of range. Sometimes, the DA can feel like 12-15 lbs.

Thanks, that is the info I had in mind when I posted. I got one of the Wheeler Manual gauges for Christmas. SA is about 4.5#, DA is all over the place, gauge reads up to 8# but marker will move much further. DA has read from 7.25# to WAY past the end of the reading strip. I can easily believe 15# or more sometimes. Guess it's time I learn to do more then field strip it.

Yeah, the Wheeler manual one is really no good, as far as DA measurements go. Max reading is 8 lbs. I made the same mistake, when I didn't know better, of buying it a few years ago. Get the Lyman digital. It measures much higher than 8 lbs.

On a side note, I noticed when I changed the hammer strut and mainspring seat on my p226,with new parts from an E2 kit, it changed the weight of the trigger pull and I still used the stock mainspring. I believe you can just buy the strut and seat alone without having to get the whole kit,if you look around. It made quite a difference for me.
